What duties did the uboat captain do , daily tasks , routines etc ?

His "daily task" was to keep the boat and his men in one piece. So while he didn't load the eels, plot solutions, steer the boat, maintain the engines, or cook the food, it was his ultimate responsibility to make sure that all of these things happened. He decided when the boat dived, when it surfaced, when radio reports would be sent and when attacks were made.

What will we do?
--Stand around with our hands in our pockets during depth chargings and make wry jokes, maintaining our cool while everyone else loses theirs. And when one of them gets to far out of line? Pimpslap him with a Luger.
A true simulation of leadership. :arrgh!:
I just hope it won`t be 20 times a day running around a sub tapping everyone on the head what a great job are they doing to increase morale...

That was my initial fear as well. But I'm sure it'll be toggleable or adjustable. It better be, anyway. If we could make it like fatigue is handled in SH3 Commander (as an option) that would be cool. Dungeon Keeper in a sub would get old for me after awhile.

Should that be the end result your final action should be to disable it or use the option to go to your bunk :hmmm:

I like the idea of you sleeping... time skips forward until you wake up or are woken up by crew in a situation. That would be awesome.
Or combine that with the option to exit the game by sleeping.
Obviously tending to his flock of ladies that stay with him in the captains bunk. :rotfl:

Hey that's not a bad idea - kinda reminds me of Fable II, which lets you pass time by sleeping.

The sleep/time compression idea sounds cool. Maybe short dream sequences? About the war, loved ones, etc...

You're late :O:
About that captain's bed....
It would be nice to limit the TC to a low value and only allow time skiping when you click on the captain's bed. Time would pass as fast as your processor can handle it and you'd be woken up if:
- a certain number of hours has passed
- the sub has travelled X miles / the sub has reached the next nav point
- sun rise/set or a certain hour
And during this time, the sub would follow a customisable procedure such as:
- travel 30 miles
- dive to 30 meters and listen for enemy
- surface to recharge batteries
- snorkel travel
- make reports at X hours
etc. And while you "sleep" you'd still be able to walk around the sub in a floaty hazy camera and see people doing stuff (2x or 3x faster than normal).

Curious. I wonder if under a really pressing and horrific depth charging there isn't a game play feature available where you have a crew member freak out? Probably not, but if morale were low enough that might be a scenario you would expect to crop up, maybe? Dunno.

Choose course and basic patrol routing. They choose target intercept courses, depths and speed to run at.
They may or may not set-up for the shot by relaying target data to whomever is operating the U-boat equlivelent of the TDC(I forgot what its called, its been awhile since I did U-Boats...Im more familiar with US subs). They dictate target engagement.
The Captain and 1st Officer will plan ship and crew managment decisions based on the various reports gathered from the various station/department leads.
They determine promotions.

That would totally suckify the game. :nope:
I hope that Ubi is not confusing simulation with role playing.

Just hand out Bdu Radio messages to the crew...
'KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK'
He eats his soup without slurping, dives deep for deep thinking. The captain is always right, so he orders right turns only. When he inspects the machiinery he doesn't get his hands dirty. When in the nighclub, he drinks more that his whole crew. A good captain drinks champagne without spilling it on his lap. A U-boat captain makes sure his white cap looks like something Godzila chewed on it but failed to digest.

OMG , for a start i live in australia so it will be more like $100 . All i really wanted is a list of actions we might do as a first peron player in SH5 . If we compile a list now then you cannot say when the game comes out , i wish i had of suggested that .
Action 1/ walk up to the navigation map on the table and click on it to view the map .
