View Full Version : bull**** game!
Right, someone tell me how to survive as an privateer in X3:TC?
I'm so ****ing pissed atm, I've literally tried around 100 times (yes, really, I've been cursing the whole ****ing day starting over again and again) during today to get somewhere, starting as the bankrupt assassin (no, I dont want to start from scratch).
Right, so what I want to do is cap ships and sell them for profit. But the game is so ****ing ******* at me. The ****ing moment I finally cap/board/claim something it's ****ing 2 minutes and there's whole load of *******s coming at me. And those wankers are pirates who just magically appear from somewhere.
So, what the hell I'm supposed to do? My plan is to head for the Tedadil (or what the hell the tossers are called) space because they dont care whoever I attack aslong as it's not them, so I go to the neighbouring sectors, cap a ship and bring it back to Tedaadidaa space and sell it, but I CANT GET THERE!!!! I ****ing die in 10 ****ing ****sucking minutes!
I HATE THIS ****ING BULL****!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHGHGH!!!!!!

I usally try making some money first by trading or something like that before I start shooting stuff. :D
Yeh, I saw that thread, not helping. :-?
See, I dont mind if game is hard, but **** this bull****! It's pure ****ing luck if you survive or not. It's so ****ing ridiculous! Like just now, I made it to the Tedapoo sector, I still was attacked by the wanker pirates WHILE OTHER SHIPS WERE FLYING AROUND ME! They are pirates for ****'s sake! Baddies! Kill them! Help and yaadiyaa! :damn:
Another thing you can try, is not to go to the Teladi first.. try make your way to the Argon. You have Pirate sectors right next to the argon sectors. Cap some pirate ships and move your 'loot' asap to an Argon station. Paranid and Split might be fine too with the Argon.
You can also install some scripts that make capping ships easier, as in raise the chance to that the pilot bails and so on. AFAIR, there is a whole slew of scripts for player pirates and freelancers. Might want to look into that.
In X3:Reunion I used to have a carrier and a couple of corvets patroling the Pirate systems to keep the trade lances clear for my traders. In X3:TC that's almost impossible, since the Pirates now have capitols patroling.
EDIT: Plus, with making some monies first, you buy additional ships and have them fly as a wing.. or they draw the fire while you try to escpae with your booty..

I really only pursued a career as a merchant, but maybe that "system override software" can make your life easier. Costs you over 600k though. :hmmm:

You have bounty hunters after you sent by the Paranid.
Once your Paranid Rep goes up they will leave you alone and you'll not have to worry them again..
Also they only spawn when you're in border sectors, so stick to core sectors initially
(and they only appear for the Bounty Hunter & Unholy Traitor starts).
for some tips (but watch for spoilers) check out the Nuklear-Slug's DiD story: Zen & the art of running away

Aye, but it also illegal, AFAIR. You can get .. uh.. damn forgot what it was called.. a legal version of this, but that requires a script and cost something like 6mil in game. :hmmm:

Cargo bay shielding? Also illegal, but it keeps the police from scanning for illegal stuff. At least, as far as I know, never used the stuff yet. :hmmm:
About getting blasted with lots of ships around: most of them have their own objectives; fighters escorting a freighter won't come to your aid. Military units should engage any threat though, seek them out if you come under attack. Parking next to an orbital weapons platform works nicely too, or docking at a station and hope they get blasted or go away. I think you can hail some units and stations and request help when under attack, though they'll usually tell you they have no units to spare.
This is why I always prefer fast ships and jumpdrives. They can't blast you if they can't catch you. :)

This is the best ever post... :har: nice pic dude. :D
How bad do you want to make cash?
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=217035
If you want the fast way that link is it.
If you want the hard way then keep trying.. Its not hard to make cash.. Find the best deals.
Start small
Easiest cash maker is buy energy and sell it to the highest buyer.
Later on you need fighter support but it maybe cheaper for drones.
Goodluck..
After a few tries to just fly like an idiot I managed to get to the relative safety of the Teladi sectors. I had pissed off the Boron guys at some point (or do you start them as your enemy?), so started to hunt their freighters in the Teladi border sectors.
Has now few freighters to do my trading and it's pretty good cash. Need to get back to pirating once I get me a TM. :yep:

Don't worry about that, it seems natural for everyone to piss off the Borons.
Do the Teladi allow you to smuggle space fuel and space weed through their sectors? You could make short jumps out and sell them to people in the nearby sectors (As long as you avoid the sector patrols).

I think the Teladi allow you to smuggle almost anything. Personally, I'd rather piss off the Split or Paranid.. Aren't the Boron and Argon somewhat allied? Can't really remember what influence it in game has when you kill one or the other.
Or go for the Pirates or Yaki.. they usally hate you anyways.

Nah, the Boron are just so incredibly annoying (Anyone who ran the storyline in X2 would agree) that they I often get the urge to shoot their ships randomly.

Not sure... but there seems to be no influence to the allied race's thingy if you kill their allies. For example, paranid & teladi are allied, yet paranid hate me and teladi like me.

Teladi like everybody who trades with them.. hehe As long as you don't blow up their ships you are safe within their realm. =)
But, if you wan to raise your faction with the other races after you got them mad at you.... that's gonna be a pain in the behind.
I'm now convinced that Bernard has managed to find a time machine and is now crewing my ship under false name. :hmmm:
My bad luck has no other explanation, especially after I've claimed a ship it has come to be sort of an tradition to give the newly claimed ship a friendly nudge, blowing it to billions of pieces of junkmetal. :shifty:

Yeah, I know that feeling. Everytime one of them bails out, some stray fire or slow-moving "rounds" already fired blow it up. :damn:
I should bring less firepower; just leave the corvettes at home. :shifty:

Or give them the order Attack Shields of.... :D Works pretty well for me if you have some fighters or Ion armed corvettes doing to the shooting.
Just started a new game as Terran Defender. I also installed the Normandy Frigatte from Mass Effect. Nice ship! Working to get one now. Plus I got one of the bail extension scripts, so there are plenty of abandon ships around, if you are fast enough to get them before the damn npc salvage crews claim them. :shifty:
