I am new to sub sims and have been zipping along on a career at the lowest level. I get a message telling me the port has been changed to Brest, but no Brest appears on the navigation map. I get orders to go from Wilhelmshaven to Brest, again no Brest, so I go to Lorient. Next orders say "go to Brest." What happened to the port?

Specify first which mod you are playing? And the year too?

Not quite sure what you mean by "mod." I am in the career part and the date before next patrol is 16 Aug 1940

So you are playing SH3 (stock DVD) without any mods *

I suggest to download a supermod for a better SH3 experience.

* mod = short for modification.

There are many stock bugs in SH3 that has been solved in a supermod.

SUPERMODS for SH3:

GWX 3.0
NYGM
LIVING SILENT HUNTER LSH3
WAC 4.0 WAR ACE CAMPAIGN

There is a newbie thread about mods on this forum.

a mod is a game add on, if you don't know about them it's safe to say you're playing the stock game. If you look at the Bay of Biscay and follow the French coast upwards, Brest is on the bit that pokes out just before the coast turns back to form the English channel. Lorient is south of Brest meaning you've gone too far down. Never known of vanishing ports myself.

If your system can handle it I recommend getting GWX 3.0 and SH3 commander. You'll find the game much better to play.

I'm sorry I understand now. The only mods installed are lifeboat debris and the officer icons for the various positions, ie CE, Nav Officer etc. I am using Commander but that doesn't appear to load into the root directory. Thanks for the input I will take a look at the suggested mods and write off the lack of Brest to a quirk in the German High Command.

I agree with FordPerfect.

I don't remember the "stock" version, but I assume that 'Brest' is on the map.

I saw something similar to this in another thread. It turned out that he was able to get to Brest and escape:dock at Brest, and that fixed it for future patrols.:sunny:

thanks for all the input I did manage to find Brest but only after zooming in the area where it should be. The docks are there but no label on the navigation map.

If you install one of the supermods as I wrote before, you will probably loose your saves!

Just to inform you. :know:

However, as said ... I suggest to install a supermod, JSGME and SH3 Commander. You will get the full SH3 experience and a better gameplay. :yep:
