I just replaced the starting motor in my Toyota Tacoma (96).
Longest screws Ive ever seen. Espically with no power tools and only being able to manage 1/8 a turn each stroke of the wrench.
Not to mention wresteling the rascal out and into position. :damn:
So heres the funny bit.
This ever happen to you?
So I'm tightning a screw with about 3,000 turns to it (seemed like) and take it most the way home and your arm gets tired.
You decide to swap to a socket wrench and lay on your back looking upwards and turn about 2,000 more turns,,,, the wrong way :stare::rotfl:
I took a break after that

Are you sure you needed a starter?
I had a Tacoma and sometimes the starter would just "click" when I turned the key. Happened about once a month, then once a week, kept getting worse. Figured it needed a starter.
Took it to my local trusted shop, he told me it's common on those and Corollas. It's the nut that holds the positive started cable to the starter. It's not a ful nut, sorta a half-nut in bronze. (he showed it to me) He said they work loose over time and it's just a bad connection.
He tightened the nut and that fixed it. Told me it'd be $10 for putting it on the rack, I gave him $20.

Yea I had the old starter bench tested. Oh and that 'half screw' was definatly not loose my scabby knuckles can attest to that:rotfl:
