Swine flu 'debacle' of 1976 is recalled..........

"The government wanted everyone to get vaccinated," Ward said. "But the epidemic never really broke out. It was a threat that never materialized."

Besides, these kinds of threads would be annoying even in a dedicated forum. :|\\

I beg to differ.

The GT has been this "heated" for most of the time I've been on Subsim, they arent calming down.

I see this more or less the same as was with SH4 boards before they were separated to ATO and PTO. People with different views on things shove their opinions down the throats of everyone who has different views and the other side is doing the same. So, what we get is an endless debate which then eventually goes to namecalling and ppl taking other posts apart and checking that every darn . and , are on their place or there's hell to pay.

I don't know, some of these threads are good for ****s and giggles. They usually end in completely irrelevant bickering which occasionally amuses me. But a dedicated politics subsection would be nice, so we could keep regular tomfoolery separated from wingnutery.

This wasn't meant to be political. This was meant to ask a simple question. Are you ready for the swine flu?

Perhaps if you looked at the entire post you would have seen the question.

I'm sorry CB but that post of yours looked pretty political to me.

Take the first link out.. ;) That ought to put the focus on the flu, not how the media is ignoring an advisor and/or political statement.

Oh, I see, now the chief of staff for POTUS isn't an important spokesman for the administration and its plans for what is being foreshadowed as a crisis.

I will edit it out but the question stands........are you ready?

You won't mind if I post this important part of the swine flu 'crisis' here. Do you?

Brother, there is an ignore button, if I was not admin, I would most definitely use it! :shucks:

Ignoring ppl is rude, momma said so. :smug:

But seriously, atleast give the politics board a though. Alot of other GT topics are just sliding off the first page because of all the, may I say, crap that is posted here day by day.

Or heck, even have one Obama thread, that would cut the new threads by 50%.

Momma is wrong, and think of it as "putting these people is a different forum" by using the ignore button.

If we made a political forum, the same problem would exist there.

When you (or me or anyone) responds to these threads, they live on. Doesn't anyone have self control around here?

Yeah, I don't like to use the ignore function either. Only one person has earned that distinction so far. :03:

No, Sir.

PS. And I'll be having a discussion with my momma tomorrow, you better not be lying about the mom being wrong bit. :stare:

I'm not saying you should use it, but I am suggesting people should use it instead of complaining about having to read posts by the select members they dislike.

Give your momma a Texas big hug, and my regards. And make sure she understands this forum spamming situation :shucks:

I think the only reason for a person to click on a thread started by someone who they know is going to irritate them is because they want to be irritated.

I must agree with Dowly here.

we need a politics only forum here.

this way the GT threads can be about things like the purchase of a new pet, new car, discussing our real life issues etc

without having to pick through all the politically related threads.:yep:

agreed... we need a political section...

I say we need to start a vote... to or not to start a political section... and see what everyone thinks...

MothBalls

A political section would be good.

Why not test it for a couple weeks and see how it goes.

Would be kinda fun, like throwing a mongoose and a snake in a room and watching from the window, or watching a sword-fight with flamethrowers.

OneToughHerring

Problem is it would be difficult to keep the non-political board politics free. Eventually politics and general bitchiness would creep in.

This thread has gone there... like the other one.
