Hello,
Im running GWX 2.1 and am in a very sucessful career in late may of 1941, at the momenet im currently doocked in Las Palmas harbor but I am with the 2nd flotilla based in Lorient. I am heavily considering a transfer to La Spezia to perform operations in the mediterranean. So my questions are:
What flotilla operates from La Spezia so I a=can ask for the transfer there?
What date in 41 does the base become available?
Will I port there or will I get to do a run throught the straight of gibraltar?
Thanks for your help

In the Mediterranean operates the 29th Flotilla
What date in 41 does the base become available?
If you read the manual you will see that there is a table in page 164 that states the operational dates for the 23/29th Flotilla. These are 10/41-4/42 Salamis in Greece, 5/42-8/43 La Spezia Italy and 9/43-8/44 Toulon France (these values are for GWX 3.0 but they should be similar for 2.1)
Will I port there or will I get to do a run throught the straight of gibraltar?
It's up to you how you want to play the game.
Thanks for your help
You're welcome

I think the question was when he transfers to the 29th flotilla at his current port (Las Palmas) and then starts a new patrol, will he be starting it from Las Palmas or will the game warp him to La Spezia due to his transfer and start the patrol from there?
Kind of wondering myself...

:yeah:Correct, my question is how do I transfer to La Spezia without porting there? I want to try the run throught the straights
Well, you answered the question by yourself I guess...
By going through the straights, you are NOT teleporting.
But if you don't want to teleport, and don't want to go through the straits, you can always spend the night in Lisbon, go out to Alfama, and listen to some Fado music, and drink some absinth. ( Be careful to put on some civilian clothes though, because there are a lot of spies there ) :D

I think you're missing it. If I travel throught the straights and then Dock at La Spezia, I don't know how I get it to act as my home base, as being to only way to request a transfer is by being docked in Lorient, and doing it there will teleport me to La Spezia.
This means by doing it the other way, I wont be able to make upgrades to my sub, and I won't recieve a patrol grid. It will always say NULL, return to Lorient.
Understand?
I never was in that situation, and am afraid I don't know.
Probably a matter of tweaking some file... but can you do it while at see, I doubt it. :hmmm:

Heiii you know my Capital City very well, JMV... :)
I bet you and your crew spend more time in Alfama drinking absinth and listen some fado, than patroling Mediterraneo Sea! :haha:
Becaufull, if Dönitz find out...Russian front with you! ROFL

Sim, a verdade , eu passei uma quinzena em Lisboa, e eu falto muito a estas noites torrides nos bars do Bairro Alto...e a absinta... Oh caraillo ! ( como dizem )
em qual parte de Portugal vivem?
I can't speak portugese for very long, unless you keep it very basic, but as I speak spanish it's not too difficult.

How a Irishman can speek so good Portuguese!?
You have ben in Lisbon for hollidays? and did you enjoy the City too...Bairro Alto its the main entrance to hell...lots of crazy old and new bars very a good start when you want to go all night long!
My hometown its Funchal, Madeira Island (a small island in the Atlantic).
Lisbon i know her very well from the time i spend serving the Portuguese Navy and Bairro Alto, Alfama, The Docks, and other places was our night playground of me and my mates.
The time i serve the Navy i was living in Almada the Lisbon side witch have that huge statum of Cristo-Rei, and the Naval Base was near of my place.

Ok, I stop there with the portugese, because it's not too good as you can see. Never been to Madeira/Funchal, but for a french guy, as they supposedly have a bad reputation as to their knowledge of geography , even among themselves, I allow boasting myself a tad...
I know Bairro Alto is rather a place to go at night, and I did certainly go there because that's the place for Fado they say. Personally, beeing more culture orientated and liking a quiet and romantic atmosphere, there is nothing like Alfama.
As for Fado, I like very much Mariza, though I heard you have more "in fashion" stars, right know...
Yes, there are one or two nice fish resto in Almada over the bridge, I heard, but I spent the whole of my days in Alfama street maze.
Entao, muito gosto por poder falar portugues um poco !
Boa caza, e tem cuidade.
