I thought there was on SS a topic concerning to surrender yourself (and your crew) on a patrol. However, I cannot find it?

Is there a specific mod for surrendering? Just using esc on the keyboard doesn't help ... no possibility to surrender in SH3?

Thanks guys.

No really Red Heat, I remember that this option is possible, but don't know how?

Maybe the allies can help one of my crew members if I surrender!

If you're using SH3 Commander and are destroyed while surfaced, you have the option of going into SH3 Commander and marking that captain as "Surrendered" instead of killed at sea.

Thanks mate Mook!

OK I understand, use alt+tab double click SH3 Commander and you're done.

... but when if there are 4 DD's hunting and shooting at (surfaced) me within 500 meters, I used "Anblassen", what to do?

I think you don't understand. SH3 Commander does NOT give you the option to surrender in the game. What happens is you surface and are killed. After that happens you leave the game and use Commander to change that to "Surrendered". Your career is still over, but you are a prisoner instead of dead.

Similar to DID but a much more pallatable career report http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

OK Thanks Jim and Steve! :yeah:

I did try to start SH3 Commander but you cannot start it when you're playing the game. Now I understand how the surrender thing is working.

After that happens you leave the game and use Commander to change that to "Surrendered". Your career is still over, but you are a prisoner instead of dead.OK very good explanation. :DL

Similar to DID but a much more pallatable career report.Do not know the English word "palatable", when I translate this word from English to Dutch (on the web) it is something like tasty ... probably incorrect.

Anyway a real surrender (if possible) would be great in SH5!

The ability to surrender was only in SH2, and was dropped from SH3 and 4.

Yeah funny! :sunny:

I never had SH2, stupid to take it out for SH3 and 4 ... historically, I suppose some U-Boat captains surrender during WWII.

Thus this smiley is incorrect (at the moment) for me :arrgh!: LOL.

Well actually, it wasn't the ability to surrender. It was the ability to abandon ship, but if there was enemies around you, they'd capture you.

Surrender?
How can anyone in the KM even consider that thought. You fight to the very end for the Vaterland. You can always shoot yourself when honor is lost.

If you surface, hit escape and select end patrol you will be informed that you will be surrendering.

....or simply use the age old tactic

well, Kretschmer surrendered. And then he went on to efficiently organise the POW camp, even doing a court martial in secret and sorting a couple of strikes and escapes I think. If surrender was a good enough option for him, it should be a good enough option for you :)

No, that's about right. It's a figure of speech, like "easier to swallow" meaning "easier to take" or more acceptable.

Droevige mijnheer Ik spreek een weinig Nederlands van mijn tijd levend in uw aardig land

Acceptable or agreeable to the palate or taste.

Acceptable or agreeable to the mind or feelings: palatable ideas.

Bernard Dumkopf never surrenders! Instead he dances the Hoochi-Woochie with a elephant tea cozy on to the tunes of "Der Fuhrer ist gute" and confuses the enemy!
