No such thing as a "stupid " question. There are MOD's available to the "gold edition (1.5)", most can be installed easily using JSGME. MOD description's can be found at this link.

To clarify...just mods, no more patches...1.5 is far as you can patch.

Some say there is a super patch coming called SH5
