Would anyone want to play Battlefield 2 to practice for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 game that's coming out soon? A friend and I both purchased BF2 for $10 at Best Buy and been playing online, and inviting all my SubSim friends to join us..

Tell us what your schedule looks like and what nights/days are good for you.

Wouldn't Modern Warfare 1 be a better game to play in preparation? I would join but I'm missing a disk. Although, I guess I could download the game and use my cd key. :hmmm:

CoD4 would be better practice... I don't see why you would practice on a completely different game. You're going to get too used to BF2 and completely suck at CoD6 when it's released.

Bf2 and CoD4 is a bad mix....

I played both in clanbase matches and Eurodomination with my former clan..

Sometimes i played 3 matches in 1 evening,switching from CoD4 to BF2 and back,seriously affected my play so eventually i has to let 1 go...BF2.

Problem is the difference in first person,BF2 is more zoomed out and CoD4 is zoomed in,you cant see much around you,in BF2 you need that to spot aircraft or heli's so you are watching the whole thing from a more zoomed out point of view..

So everything is different,in CoD you can jump and shoot,not in BF2 so eventually you have to choose between the games if you really want to be a good player.

if you are preparing to play a upcoming CoD title then train in a CoD game.

Jesus they messed BF2 with the new patch. Maybe not for the normal players but for us who do longrange sniping only. It was supposed to make the hitboxes more accurate, but that's just BS. Before 1.5, I had maybe 1 out of 20 shots show as hit but not registered. Now with 1.5, it's more like every 5. shot shows but isnt registered by the game. :nope:

Yup, 1.5 came out early this month or so. New map(s), bug fixes and the Armored Fury & Special Forces addons included for free.

I'll buy a new notebook soon that will (probably and hopefully) run BF2, so yes, count me in.

@Dowly: When they messed up BF2 with the 1.5 patch and there's enough people around who are willing to play MP, why not stick with an older version (assuming everyone has the same)? I think I would really enjoy some good old BF multiplayer, whichever part of the series :)

Nah, like I said, I only do sniping in BF2 nowadays and usually only play on Dragon Valley servers, so it would need to be a pretty big group. :DL

I think I know what's messing the hitboxes for me. Theres' a setting in one of the config files that compensates any possible lag caused by the ping. The default is set to 100ms IIRC, now with much better ping that I had before upgrading my connection (150ms -> 40ms) and more accurate hitboxes, that might be what is causing the "misses". :hmmm:

But if you want you can always try to find me either from the TV2 Dragon Valley server or the ATF sniper server.

So, looks like theres some people that play BF2 here :woot:

What do you think about organizing things a little ? For example make a list of the Subsim nickname <-> BF2 nickname for a start (how/where??)

Very well then. I dont think we can start a 3rd thread about BF2, so I just put them here. ;)

I either play as Dowly or Finnish_Ferret (more with this nowadays as it's my sniper only dude) and I can be found pretty much only on 24/7 servers running either Dragon Valley or Karkand (which I will abandon as soon as I can get enough points for the L96A1 rifle).

Servers:
TV2 24/7 Dragon Valley servers
VERY rarely TV2 24/7 Wake island
The karkand servers are Sup@infantry or something like that (24/7 infantry only)
