Patrol 7.
Dec 16, 1941
Weather- Heavy rain, visibility poor.
Intercepting convoy bound for Irish sea.
Depth 7m
On the bridge, glasses pressed to my eyes....watch officer yells "ship sighted" (in german...of course)...i leap to the UZO...rain lashing my battered weather beaten face....the spray and wind combine to create one hellish wall of murky water. I turn the UZO toward the last location yelled by the watch officer....silently giggling to myself, confident that i'm invisible at this depth and in this baltic weather.
I've only two eels left in the fore tubes...and one in the aft.
using all my guile, i've managed to position myself between columns in the convoy.
o.k...it was pure luck that im between columns:haha:
I spot the sillhouette of a giant iron cow floating some 900m port ahead...."Ready Exec?....fire tubes 1 and 4"...two eels surge from the tubes toward the doomed vessel.
sonarman calling out contacts from other merchants approaching....but i know i've only 3 torps left...i'm not greedy...this ones getting both!!!
Still silently giggling to myself........now...time to fire the stern torpedo.......i spin round with the UZO....290deg....260deg....WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!!
The giant image of a destroyers bow looms in the UZO at only 50 metres away...its ghostly white shape cutting through the inky black seas with ease......ALAAAAARMMM!!!!....the destroyer cuts into the boat as i slam the hatch shut......."Boat Takes damage" "FLOODING!!!!" cries all around......the boat falls away sharply...but i manage to control the flooding.
i know that i'm doomed if i stay under, so surfacing in this weather is my only option, after manouvering away from the fuss, i repair enough to keep the boat tight and dive to depth.
....but boy....what a feeling of fear and horror i got when i spun that uzo around to find that facing me.
i bloody love this game.....i't been a while since i had that kind of cinematic experience
and you know what the last thing i thought as i crash dived...that bugger didn't turn on her spotlight's till the very last second.......salute to you tommies!!! :salute:
this never gets boring
