Early in my career, i was able to use the mouse to designate a direction for the sonar when seeking targets while underwater, but starting with my Gato class and now the Balao class, i have to use the home/end keys, I assume this isn't normal and was looking for a fix (if there is one), thanks

I've noticed errors where the clickable area is well inboard of the normal area for the sonar. Also I've seen it miscalibrated so clicking on 090 will give you 180.

Are you using any mods?

RFB has an error between where you click and where the sonar is directed. This is because you click on the relative bearing and the sonar goes to the compass bearing, making for what looks like an incomprehensible and varying error. It drove me crazy until someone made the connection. As long as you expect it and understand it, it's not much of a problem. There's a fix, but I don't know if Luke ever published it.

To the best of my knowledge all other mods work it the way you'd expect.

I know with TMO you can use the mouse fine. I do use the home and end keys for fine tuning.
Least now I understand why RFB confused me.

Wow, I wasn't aware of that little issue with RFB (currently using TMO). That would have driven me nuts, LOL. Thanks for the heads up.:salute:

It's not that big a deal. Just hold the mouse button down and move around the circle. The sonar follows you perfectly, just not where you're pointing. It's like steering a car. The position of your hand on the steering wheel has nothing to do with the direction the wheels are pointed and we don't expect that it should. I don't even think about it any more. It's not an issue.

RR ur exactly right, but, that's how it behaved in the earlier boats. But now, in the Gato and Balao, it doesn't behave like that at all. if I left mouse click anywhere on the bearing indicator at the sonar station the only thing that moves in response is my POV as if i was in a FPS.

It's pretty easy to tell if you are going to interact with something before you click the mouse. On an interaction hotspot the mouse cursor will turn more red and glow.

For example I loaded up the better radar mod which broke all sorts of RFB nice things. No where on the dial is a hotspot for the mouse to click now.

I have noticed in the Narwhal class boats in RFB that the clickzone for the sonar dial ain't where it normally is. Try mouseing around and see if you can find the clickzone. It might just be misplaced or it could be missing altogether.

to my lament, I think it is missing altogether :dead: I noticed the cursor change as well, but i can't get the cursor to change on anything other than the TDC notification switches. It's cool tho, i fiured out how to get the bearing indicator to move only a couple of degrees with the Home and End keys. Also the mouse wheel will move the hydrophone one degree at a time.
