After all the posts I've seem it seems more here want a movie instead of a sub sim.

I thought the whole idea was to sink ships and survive the war.

Instead flushing heads , boiling pots in the galley and walking around in the sub terying to catch a sailor whacking off are at the top of the list.

Great graphics and realism immersion are one thing but, alot of the posts have gotten to the point of Ridiculous.

Lets get real. Is it a Movie or a Sim you want ?

personally i want a sim with certain qualities which contribute to the immersion.

IMHO adding a full crew going about their own business and going about their duties adds to the realism of commanding a WW2 German U-Boat.

I also agree that the player should have something to do in port... i mean... i guess what im trying to say is that there should be the excitement of going out on the hunt... but there should also be the feeling that you are leaving something behind when you slip out to sea.

i feel that we can only learn more about their experience if such things which contribute to back story are modeled.

however, i agree, some requests can be over the top so to speak.

Which posts/threads have you been reading?
Otherwise I dont quite know exactly what you are refering to, maybe you should post a wishlist of your own?

I've assumed that a lot of the far-out requests have been tongue in cheek, at least that's what I hope, otherwise we'll have some very disappointed players come mid next year. ;)

I just hope that the devs implement wolfpacks, but in a way that's reflective of how they were actually used and not just to appease the number of people here who seem to think that in Nov 1939 there should be hundreds of u-boats zipping around convoys like hotrods, when in fact they weren't first used (effectively - I am aware of the Oct 1939 attempt) until Sep 1940 and were ceased by order of Doenitz in Nov 1943 as being ineffective. I know I won't want to be in a Wolfpack any time after 1942, as my likelihood of survival will be practically zero. I wonder how many people who are currently stamping their feet and refusing to buy the game if it doesn't have wolfpacks will be happy the first time they use their radio within a wolfpack only to be trounced by superior HuffDuff wielding escorts. Can't have the good without the bad. ;) I, though, will be very happy if this was the case for then I can breath a sigh of relief knowing that the devs haven't simply bowed to pressure.

I do really like how OneLifeCrisis put it in another thread: 'I'd rather have a good U-boat simulation than "Das Boot - the video game"', the latter certainly being where some people appear to be drawing their inspiration.

:har::rotfl::haha:

Quote from another post, in another thread, on 19 August:

I thought I'd post this here lest it be lost among the 4,658,354 requests for wolfpacks (seriously guys, don't you think the devs have the hint on this by now?).

Welcome to the Club!:D

In a manner, both (balanced). One thing SHIV failed for sure is the crew aspect, everybody looked like no brained robots.

Same here, I want both (up to date graphics - realistic water effects, fully supported DX10 and ofc a good sim - at least as good as in SH4 plus real dynamic campaign, unpredictible AI and "delayed" orders - for example as you order to man deck gun, it would took a bit until all gun crew would get to gun and fire, it could be even animated since we have all that running around).

I just hope they finally get the wolfpacks in and a good AI and all that.

Other than that, adding a full crew is nice, if they do it realisticly.

If it turns out to be a failure with alot off repitition I think I was better off with my own fantasy added to SHIV.

If i'm not able to catch people whacking off, I'm not even gonna bother to buy this game

Well I definitely want/prefer a sub sim, but I've a feeling there will be an option to include one or two movie bits as a complimentary addition.

The bottom line for me is a realistic sub sim when playing at the higher realism levels.

Restored. I tried to merge the seawater topics, but clicked this one instead. Sorry about that.

I don't expect alot of the 3D characters on the boat. So long as the ones you see in each area change up what they are doing (reading, cards, sleeping etc in bunk areas) and change depending on who is on duty, I am fine with that. I don't need the cook asking me to taste his diesel-broth soup etc.

As I was playing SH4 tonight I was thinking that one thing I would like to see in SH5 is the crew actually going down the hatch from inside, and outside views when diving. That would be a nice touch.
