I have a Trust GM-4200 Predator optical mouse. It's pretty good, but I have some problems with it.
The wheel is starting to get clogged with dirt, and sometimes it goes crazy and jumps randomly while scrolling. It's very tiring to get it working properly...
I can't open the damn thing. It only has a visible screw (covered with a "breaking voids guarantee" seal), but it must have some kind of or latch inside.
I contacted Trust support, but they smartest thing they told me was "clean it with a wet cloth :yeah:".
:stare:
I can't buy a decent mouse right now, and i wont buy a crappy one for two bucks.
Anyone has an idea of how can I open this f*cker?

Here's a picture of this factory sealed "send-it-to-us-and-we-will-repair-it-for-100$" piece of crap:

I live in Spain. The technical support for all this stuff is on the other side of the Atlantic, and shipping costs may be high, and I mean HIGH...

They (mouse makers) often hide further screws under the feet of the mouse, that or it hooks on to the front or back and uses the screw to hold the other end in place. Though once the feet are off its very difficult to get them to stay back on.

Of course if it is still under guarantee then just take it back, otherwise the sticker don't matter no more.

I have to say though, I don't know how you managed to clog the wheel with dirt, I have owned and destroyed a lot of mice, but never have had that problem. I would suggest that you try cleaning your hands before using the computer.

I finally found the hidden screws... i need glasses:88)
See that black piece of plastic surrounding the wheel? Its very close to it, almost touching. If just a bit of dirt gets there, the wheel starts to get stuck.
I also cleaned the wheel sensor with an electronic contact cleaner. But the spring has lost some strength, and now the steps are not as defined as they were. At least it doesn't go crazy anymore.
