Does the Malfunctions setting in Subcommander work with GWX3? I know that it didn't when GWX3 first came out, but has anything changed?

Yes it does, but more if you use sabotage too!
Quite hard with sabotage :yep:

Do I have to update anything? I haven't updated Subcommander or GWX since I got GWX3.

I don't know Subcommander, I assume you mean SH3 Commander. In SH3 Commander (Options >> Gameplay Settings) you can enable at "Model Effects" malfunctions and sabotage.
But be aware, sometimes your boat cannot keep depth or compressed air could be a problem too! :arrgh!:

 I meant SH3Commander. But does it work with GWX3.0? On the GWX3.0 page it says to keep them off.

Yes correct Mookie, you mean the special file (install) for GWX 3.0:
GWX3_SH3Cdr3.2Files_v1.2.exe (312 KB)
However, do you know the difference between the above file and this one?
GWX3_CFG_for_SH3Commanders.exe (476 KB)
Thanks.

I sure don't. I just remember VikingGrandad's cfg files were the ones that had the GWX team "seal of approval" so that's why I linked to that one.

Complicated, now I don't know which file is the correct one? :hmmm:
I have both on my external Harddrive.

I'm tempted to turn on Malfunctions and Sabotage, but I'm afraid for my career. This is the farthest I've gotten in a career(October 29, 1939), and the most tonnage i've sunk.

No problem with malfunctions, but be aware with malfunctions + sabotage. There is a huge difference!
Give it a try (if you dare) :arrgh!:, but don't blame me! :DL

I run with mal and sab both, and have not had a problem to date. I do a full systems check shortly after I clear the harbor, ie run engine check up to fland spped, check tha both parascopes and the TDC operate. fire the deck gun and AA gun. submerge as soon as I get to 100 meter line, check batteries speeds. If I find a malfunction I will either return to port if operating out of France, or dock at K-land if coming out of Kiel ar W-haven for repairs. I I think the propbelm is not too serious, I continue to run the partol. So far I have had parascope malfunction, engine malfunction (I could not use Flank speed) TDC malfunctions, and Torpedo tube door malfunction. I am sure there are others that I have not noticed or have not yet occurred.
Drive on with a vengance!
