Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine (Sam Worthington) who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. This is from a scene early on where Worthington enters a lab and meets his Avatar for the first time and goes through the procedure to integrate his mind into it. The only hint I’ll give you about the rest of the movie is that most of it follows Jake Sully (seen above) as this other creature on the planet of Pandora.
Avatar is both written and directed by Oscar winning visionary filmmaker James Cameron, of Piranha II, The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, True Lies, and Titanic previously. He has been developing the technology to make this movie for the last 10 years. 20th Century Fox is bringing James Cameron’s Avatar to both IMAX and regular theaters in 3D around the world on December 18th.

Another CGI fiesta. I'll wait until it comes out on netflix.

But hey, if that is your cuppa, more power to ya. Hope it is everything you hoped for. :yeah:

As I get older, it takes a lot more to get me to fork over the mega bucks it costs to go to a crowded theater.

Same here. I used to make a point of seeing at least one movie a week. These days it has to look exceptional before I'll even think about it. That said, I've seen a couple recently that I enjoyed, mainly because a friend talked me into it. Same with a few that I've hated as well.

I have another friend who collects DVDs, and regularly lets me borrow them, so I catch up on a lot of what I missed that way.

Wow, I hope this one isnt marketed with the quality of CGI in it, because that was waaaay from being something I'd expect from Cameron. It hits you like an baseball bat that screams "THIS IS CGIIIIIIII".

Now, I'm not in anyway qualified to judge anyone's work when it comes to CGI, but I would've expected alot better quality.

I will see it if my girls want to see it. Right now they like the Final Fantasy movies. Similar CG type deal. Hey, it is a good 2 hours of mindless entertainment. It helps free the mind. :D

Yeah i agree, plus we will really need to watch this movie in 3D if we want to see it in full blown CGI unless you have those gaming 3d glasses forgot the name of them priced around $400 read in ubi forums a gamer uses them for SH3 and 3d movies. Otherwise wait for it to come out on dvd. Thing is from what i read this movie was 10yrs in the making and i just heard about it two days ago :har:

Yes, but they often claim some ludicrous time frame. I remember reading that Luc Bessons "Fith Element" was 40 years in the making or something, which basically meant Besson had an idea as a child. (I love Fifth Element, btw)

"Night Elves vs. Starship Troopers". :)

This and the other movie, Gamer or whatever was it. Hollywood is really trying to milk the mmorpg-crowd for all the money they have.
