Okay, so "D" sets the boat to dive...

what button do I use to 'level off' the dive once I achieve the desired depth?
I currently 'yo-yo' by hitting "D", diving to 300ft. and then I hit the 160 ft setting on the gauge and then the "D" again every few minutes just to stay under the thermal layer. :x

Don't tell me to RTFM because I downloaded the game from STEAM and didn't get a manual of any sort. The downloadable manual I found doesn't actually list the controls, and I didn't even see the DIVE = D in the help menu (F1).

Thanks!

The manual is available via steam check out your 'my games tab'. But hey the manual sucks anyhow.

In the meantime just click the depth you wish on the depth gauge. A grey tick indicator will appear at the depth you ordered and the boat will dive to that depth and level off.

No need to fuss with the D key its really just for emergency dives anyhow.

:hmmm: Try the "A" key. But save the game first, in case you get a CTD.

@ Steamwake: I mean to dive 'deeper' than the gauge allows for though. The gauge only lets me dive to 160, which usually is still 30 feet above the thermal layer. Is there another way to dive to a specific depth that I don't know about?

@ Munchausen: thanks... I'll try using D and A to see if that works.

What you're looking at is the shallow depth meter. if you click the little bar under it, you get the full depth meter, which will allow you to take your boat to crush depth and beyond.

I would include a screenshot, but I haven't quite figured it out on this forum yet lol.

wow...I'm constantly finding things are designed so much easier than how I'm doing them.... that's why I ask.

Thanks! Imagine that.. a little bar underneath! I couldn't even see it!

not if you have historical crush depth...later fleet boats can go to 1,000 feet

like the uss. chopper.

Just about everyone overlooks that at first. No worries :salute:

Some great guides here on SS seek and ye shall find.
