I'm a big fan of City building games, simcity series, anno series, etc. I recently bought the Simcity box, which comes with Simcity Societies and Simcity Deluxe, for the price of buying simcity deluxe. I've had it for atleast a month, and haven't really touched the socities portion till about a week ago.
Not the worse mistake i've ever made, but its pretty high up there. It took me about 45 minutes to get the game and its expansion installed. I played for 10 minutes before closing it, with much distaste.
Today I go to uninstall it, to free up my hard drive, and had to wait 20 minutes to uninstall the expansion. I haven't uninstalled the main game yet, but I know its going to take just as long.
If it wasn't for the fact that it was basically free with simcity deluxe, I would be pissed for spending the money. :damn:
Edit: Just finished uninstalling the main game, took about an hour.
Ah yes, tried it once at my friend's and it was pretttty darn horrible.

After hearing story after story like this about SimCity Societies, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. A shame, because I loved all of the SimCity games going back to the original and on through 4.
This is the one I'm eagerly awaiting: http://www.citiesxl.com/

I had heard good and bad stories about Societies, that why I gave it a try.
I've seen the trailers for Cities XL, it looks awesome. I like the fact that you can zone property that isn't square in shape. I'm just hoping my aging computer can play it.
The only thing I dont like about cities, is the fact that the civilians look so cartoony.

Yeah it's terrible isn't it? No new SimCity or even announcement of a new SimCity since freakin 4. I still play SC4 with expansion.
I've been watching CitiesXL for a while now. Pretty damn excited about it.
Just curious. Has anybody tried playing SimCity 4 multiplayer-like? I've read that it can be played in a sort-of multiplayer by creating a symlink for the region folder on a network drive. The idea is that each player would be accessing the same region folder and saving their cities on it.
SimCity 2000 Network edition tanked though. So I guess nobody is interested in a multiplayer SimCity game. I've actually been trying to play sc2k network edition lately. I think I need vmware with win98 to do it though because this thing just keeps crashing.
Tried SC4 aswell, didnt like it at all. Where was the fun? SC3 is the best IMHO, partly for it's humorous take on things.

The only problem I have with SC4 is the sims are lazy and complain about everylittle thing. Just like real people.
