I agree. Even though I'm delaying my purchase this time, I thank Ubisoft for continuing the franchise.

Let's not hear any nonsense about lawsuits and "I'm never going to buy a Ubisoft product again".

There are three choices:

1) Support the franchise and pay your $49 up front
2) Wait a while and pay less for the patched game.
3) Don't buy it and don't waste our time telling us why.

:yeah:I buy up front. Not the Pacific as I would hope but ultimately looking at the trailer...UBI did listen and took effort to deliver our wants. The simulation moves on with better graphics, game play and moddability.

Yes, especially the great guys in Romania. For them, many months of study of the PTO and ATO to make it great. Without them breaking the back of a book and making some hands on trips to u-boat/fleetboat museums, this would all be for naught and just another arcade game. Salute!

first of all, thanks to Ubisoft for continuing the franchise, what a great decision.

I hope developers will hear all the gameplay enhancements suggestions that submarine simulator enthusiasts, die hard fanatics and mod developers will like to see in SH5

For me in answer #2 since my current PC can just barely handle SH4; I definitively need to know that the game is great before I buy a new PC just for to play SH5

I can't recall any other game/movie/album/book that has made me more excited on the day of it's first trailer. The months before they'll release it will surely be the slowest months of my life. That pretty much covers all the "thanks ubi" part.

Exactly there are 3 choices :

2 - wait a while and pay less for the complete game.
3 - don't buy SH V and explain your decision (assuming you bought SHI/II/III and or SH IV).

I am going to buy this as soon as it hits the shelves.

Thank you indeed. Given the marketplace and the general death of sims for the PC, I am pleased there is still enough support for the production of this sim, even with a lot of the negativity being posted.

My only request is that the developers make the sim mod friendly and actually work with some of the mod teams out there. I think it is obvious by now that sims/games that are embraced by the modding community extend their shelf life and sales for years rather than a couple of quarters. With some of the new aspects being touted for SHV, it seems they may have done that already.

Thank you indeed ;)

One pleased sub simmer

Yes, they had the only hand in it. Florin Boitor was the lead developer, and our friendly Dan Dimitrescu, now the head guy, was his assistant. It's all in SH3's creadits.

Whoa.... let's clear some things up:

1 - SH Team in Ubi RO sometimes receives a little external help. For example, SH modders and the community have helped us a lot in the past

2 - Florin Boitor was the project manager / producer of SH3. It was Tiberius Astianax Lazar who was the lead designer back then. There was also another designer - Tudor Serban - already in the team for a number of months when I joined. Really I was just an enthusiastic game designer that came mid-project to help (long story, was not part of Ubisoft when SH3 started) and in no way I was Florin's assistant. Reread those credits.

3 - I'm not the head guy, the project is now headed by Alex Gris. The Producer. I happen to be the "lead designer". But really, any such project is a team project, there's lots of people involved. On the design part, an important amount of work is done by the already mentioned Tudor. He doesn't really spend time on subsim so he doesn't get the visibility I get, but while I'm on my vacation he's up there with Alex in Koln, doing the first presentations of SH5 ;)

Other than this ... thank you guys for all the kind words :)

Whilst I will reserve my right to compliment or criticise until after I have the product installed and running on my computer, I will be looking forward to it. The video preview (w/ German voiceover) does look quite impressive.

FWIW I intend to ignore all written previews this time. Having lived through the glowing SH4 previews only to see them hastily qualified after release has left me wary of the impartiality of any (p)review (sorry Neal, but you know where I'm coming from I'm sure).
