I got this around 5 days ago, and it's marked TREAT AS URGENT AND CONFIDENTIAL, apparently I am the next of kin of someone that died in a recent plane crash.

I am Mr Abu Salam the head of file department of Bank of Africa (B.O.A) here in Burkina Faso / Ouagadougou. In my department we discover an abandoned sum of (US$10.5Million US Dollars) in an account that belong to one of our foreign customer who died along with his family in plane crash.

It is therefore upon this discovery that i now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deceased for the safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it. I agree that 35% of this money will be for you, and 5% will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business and 60% would be for me. Then after the money is been transferred into your account, i will visit your country for an investment under your kind control.

You have to contact my Bank directly as the real next of kin of this deceased account with next of kin application form. You have to send me those your information below to enable me use it and get you next of kin application form from bank, so that you will contact Bank for the transfer of this money into your account.

Your Full Name.....................
Your Home Address..............
Your Age.............................
Your Handset Number...........
Your Occupation...................

I am waiting for your urgent respond to enable us proceed further for the transfer.
Yours faithfull,
Mr Abu Salam

:har:
Apparently this "Abu Salam" character has no idea who I am. I don't have ANY Family member worth 10 million dollars, the only two who may be close (my uncle and my step-grandfather) are both very much alive. That, and everyone old enough to have that money is Aerophobic (I made it up, they're scared of flying)

Whatta load of crap!

Every once in a while an envelope lands in my mailbox which looks convincingly like 'offical' or registered mail. Its of course marked urgent or time critical or some sorts.

The first thing I do is look for a return address, if there is none or it is some bizzare po box number it goes straight into the trash un-opened.

I tread my emails in a simalar manner deleted un opened.

Its like those phone calls you get... ~Ring~ "Hello?"....... a brief pause .... I already know whats comming... a pre recorded "Hello.. please hold for an impor" [click]

If its so damn important call me in person if you please.
