So I was on this patrol that required me to deliver an agent onto Honshu and then get back to Midway. It was a great patrol. Over 6 merchant kills and one unwary japanese destroyer. But then as I was about half way back to Midway I discovered that there is no way that I'm going to have enough fuel to make it back anywhere. Now this is despite the fact that I used maximum fuel efficiency (2/3 propulsion). So what I would really like to do is edit the savegame so that some fuel could just magically appear right inside the tank :DL
I've already tried setting realisticfuel to false in virtually every config file that I could find but it has absolutely no effect. Could somebody please help me with this cause I don't want this incredibly stupid fault ruin a nearly perfect patrol.

Always use 'Standard Propulsion' on a long cruise - it maximises your range

I don't think you can change those factors in an ongoing patrol, but you should have had plenty fuel. Best speed for fuel is 9-10kts...
Did your batteries get damaged? If so they will never stop charging. You must put your boat on standard propulsion so the engine will go back on line. Any engine damage?
Are you playing stock...It's been so long since I've played it, doe's it not have the icon's that show you range to end, so you can check your fuel status?
Maybe someone will have the answer...most of us consider this a failed patrol, but you live and learn. Unless you wasted a lot of fuel chasing ships, you should have plenty fuel to complete missions and then some.
I can leave Midway and reach Honshu on about a 1/4 tank.
Do you have a save point that you can go back and start. If you want you can load your base save and do the mission again....but many factors come into play with fuel usage.

Some files can be found in two locations:
In the main SH4 folder.
In a sub-folder of your My Computer/Documents folder.
Changing files in the main SH4 folder won't do squat. You need to find the parameter(s) you want to change in your Documents folder and make the changes there. First, try looking in the Main.cfg file.
