why do they feel the need to "stand out" so much?
why do they demand to be seen by everyone?
why do they feel the need to make sure everyone see's them perform public displays of affection?
I mean give me a break... i dont passionately make out with my wife in public - because it is inappropriate... i know teenage kids who would reserve that sort of behavior for the backseat of daddy's car or the darkest of movie theaters... but not gays... they would stand on the sidewalk in front of a church on sunday morning and make out if they thought it would draw any stares.
seems like a lot of gays and lesbians do it for nothing more than "shock value".
example: im standing outside a restaurant the other day, and these to lesbians are heading for the door.
how do i know they were lesbians?
they were clearly lesbians because of the crew cut hair, lack of makeup, grimacing facial expressions, and all "male" clothing.
They were essentially men.. they walked like men... they had mildly masculene voices, but they had breasts - very female breasts and very girlish figures.
other than my fleeting glance in their general direction i tried to pay them no mind... you know... be polite... pay no more attention to them than i would anyone else.
but NOOOO - they went out of their way to walk in front of me, grasp hands, french kiss one another, glance at me and giggle and walk into the restaurant.
its like - what the hell was the point of that?
your gay - nobody gives a sh*t.
now because the mormons told two gay dudes to contain their dry humping on private property and is openly opposed to gay marriage - the gay community is up in arms and doing this whole - completely unnecesary kiss athon nonsense.
its like ... dont oppose gay people or else you will have some sort of wild and embarrasing gay dry humping orgy on your lawn

Men are from Mars, women from Venus,
and homos from Mercury, the planet closest to the sun, so they still suffer from a big hit of sunstroke...
:03:
I don't know about you but I plan to passionately make out with my girlfriend in public a few times. ;)
I don't know about you but I plan to passionately make out with my girlfriend in public a few times. ;)
I also plan to passionately make out with your girlfriend a few times. :D

Perhaps because gays are people too?
It is inappropriate to characterize all Homosexuals as if they all act/think exactly alike. Just as it would be inappropriate to characterize all Heterosexuals as if they all act/think alike.
There are Homosexuals that engage in PDA just as there are Heterosexuals who engage in PDA. There are Homosexuals that do not engage in PDA just as there are Heterosexuals who do no engage in PDA.
Perhaps some people only notice it more when it involves Homosexuals?

Me I could care less, I see far more heterosexual kids doing the exact same things you described.
As for why homosexuals like to draw attention to themselves, well for one thing they as a group have long been forced to remain completely hidden from public sight or risk serious criminal charges or worse. Also I think some of them are going for the whole desensitization thing so that we won't pay them any more mind then we do anyone else showing affection in public.
As for your encounter with the 2 lesbian girls, you obviously made it apparent to them that you were uncomfortable with them and they decided to mess with that. But I've seen heterosexuals do the same thing too with people who are uncomfortable with their public affection.
It's also quite obvious that you in fact do give a **** since you started this thread.
Last the two gay males only shared a kiss they were not "dry humping" or even making out in public.
Didnt we just had a thread about gays?

I'm totally laughing right now, because the subsim ad right now is the "all gay cruises":har:
Never seen that ad before here. I guess it's a change from the russian or arab bride ad.:har:
Regarding the story, I'd say it's payback for the measure 8 thingy in Kali-fornia. You make us uncomfortable we make your life uncomfortable.

Its kind of funny the gay pepole I know are not overt in fact some go out of their way to not be noticed.
My sister and her signifigant other are definatly not overt in any way. They indeed appear to be quite normal. If you told someone who did not know they would be shocked / supprised.
So as usual you cant pigenhole them or anyone else.

There will always be some bad eggs...you can't say that all homosexuals act like this, because quite frankly, they don't.
And as Dowly said, we did have a thread like this not too long ago...

your right... i should have chosen my words more carefully.
but i suppose that the "shock value" thing is true.
there is a certain young segment of the gay population that seems to go out of their way to make everyone aware of their "orientation".
it would be akin to me running around to strangers talking to them about how much i like women.
or going all over town making out with my wife in an over the top attention getting way.
its tacky and its something i dont engage in.
There are Homosexuals that engage in PDA just as there are Heterosexuals who engage in PDA.
again, you are right and i agree completely... however i live in a part of the country where you don't see a lot of either group engaging in it thankfully. perhaps in "these parts" people of either orientation have better manners.
dont get me wrong... i have openly gay friends... one of which lives in another part of the country now. he laid on the hood of his car in the bar side of town while a couple of his male friends pretended to perform sex acts on him...
i was like dude... thats completely innapropriate and over the top dont you think?
his response was
"just representing."
(a term i would never use, but then again...he is quite a bit younger than I)

What's with the needless stereotyping?
Grouping people is useless. If they have similarities they also have differences. Did they hurt anything besides your preconceived notion about how things are supposed to be? Then leave them be because that's what America is about.
Where is it in the bible that says homosexuality is immoral? I don't know the book very well and I'm curious the wording that's used.

I had zero intention of seening Bruno, but a co-worker talked me into seeing it. It had some funny parts, but it was hands down, the most disgusting film I've ever seen.:o

It's in Leviticus someplace.

Is that old testament or new?
Definetly old. I'm not a Bible scholar, but there is a big difference between the 2.
The niki mcbee cliffnote version is this:
Old T: It's all about following nit-picky rules. It's also more of a history of the Jews.
New T: Jesus' teachings; love one another, turn the other cheek.

why have an event and go out of their way to offend a religious group who is equally entitled to their opinion?

I believe it's a protest against a religious group that gays believe treat them as less than equal.

So why don't all the gays/lesbians go have a protest at the Vatican? Last time I checked the Mormon church isnt that big. Besides they probably didn't get that autograph from Donny and Marie that they wanted are in huff about it. :haha:

this all started back a month or two ago when two gay dudes were on Mormon private property having a makeout session.
they were asked to hault their activities and leave the property due to inappropriate behavior. (if it were a man and woman they would have been asked to do the same)
you cant win with special interest groups like these... they dont want equal rights
they want special rights

Definetly old. I'm not a Bible scholar, but there is a big difference between the 2.
Leviticus, 8,22: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." (King James version)
Quite unmistakable. But why should this have any relevance in politics? It's just the bible.
What's going on at the moment is of course a discussion about the rights of people with same-sex preference. But at its root it is also about the age old 'separation of church and state' issue.

i dont think either issue has roots here.
its a matter of respect and decency.
Entity A: publicly opposes the views of Entity B
Entity B: is upset with Entity A over their opinion (to which they are entitled)
as a result, Entity B stages some childish and disrespectful peep show meant to offend the views of Entity A.
both are well within their rights
Entity A has the right to it's opinion
Entity B has the right to protest
but my underlying question is... can the protest not be civil? can it not be tasteful?
i mean whats wrong with carrying signs and chanting some sort of protest mantra?

I don't know if it's simply a matter of respect and decency. If it were, there probably wouldn't be so much zeal on either side. And in such cases, both sides tend to be carried away in the process.
As to tasteful ... I think that's different to everyone. Generally I disapprove of PDAs in general, so it has nothing to do whether they happen between members of the same or opposite sex. But it's still way better than hurling bricks.

Just to add to what GR said, you have two hypersensitive groups trying to step on each others toes. The prop 8 in california opposition was heavily backed by the LDS church, the "gay community" is still really pissed about this getting shot down by the voters. I see this as payback.

Reminds me of a party with friends. Two of my annoying female friends were hitting on me, so I ended up kissing my handsome gay buddy. The look on their face was priceless and the kiss was pretty good too. I can only imagine the reaction of a guy like Contact, I think I'd even pay for that :)
