Hi all,
Not that is really my first start of a campaign, but my first under GWX.
I thought I read something special in regards with the first mission since it starts before the war. Is there anything special I need to do?
I guess I am not supposed to attack per say before the 15th?
That means my first mission should last more than 15 days?
Am I correct?

Thank you

The first boats entered the Atlantic on the 15th, two weeks before the war started so they were on station and could strike as soon as hostilities commenced.
To simulate this, GWX begins on the 1st, a full 35 days before the war.
We have included two early missions to act as shakedown patrols.
The engine of SH3 requires a patrol to start on the first of the month.
If you use SH3CMDR, you can set the days in port to, say, 21 days. That way you do your shakedown patrol, and leave early enough to be in position to start the war in place with your second patrol

per say
Per se. It's Latin - means 'by itself', or 'in and of itself'.

One of the things you can do is use SH3 Commander, the best tool ever created for the game, and a perfect complement to GWX. It lets you set the starting date for the first of any month. It also lets you do a quick shakedown patrol and then set the days in port to any amount you desire, so you can then start the next patrol just a week or so before September 1, the beginning of the war.

I just started a new career. On August 1 I just let the game start and ended the patrol immediately. I always leave Commander's Days In Base set to 'Random'. This time my next patrol started on August 21. I'm happy - I was on station for eight days when the war began.:sunny:

Sorry about the PER SE. I am francophone. So I guess I should know better about latin...

Could you tell me what is essentially a ``shakedown patrol``?

Thank you

If you're based in Kiel, sink the Tirpitz while heading out to sea.

We need to teach those skimmer pukes a lesson about the future of naval warfare.

A patrol used for the purpose of giving the crew experience and accustomising them with the boat/equipment.

Good luck on your patrol, GRW is a major jump from stock SH3.

So is that a patrol that you can choose from (or you simply go to sea and come back quickly to go for a ``real`` patrol in your career). I am unclear here.

Thank you

The latter. You go out and return. I've gone and visited British harbors in peacetime, and I've moved out into the harbor, turned around and docked again, and I've just quit as soon as it started.

It's just because the game is incapable of starting you on, say, the 19th.
