strange problem with nvidia

Hi,

Since short i have a strange problem.
For testing i have just took the convoy mission in the academy.
Thought that it was my videodriver, by installing another driver
the problem would be solved.

I got a freeze and after about 5 / 10 secs i can play again
but got this view

My pc,
- Nvidia gtx 260
- gigabite ex58-ud3r
- 6mb ram
- 1 tb harddisc
- intel i7 processor

What would be the problem?

It looks to me as if the game is trying to load two different TGA,s. If so, the problem is in your install, not the video driver/card.

I have set off the physx and made some other setting
in the nvidia control panel. Tried 2 mission and it works fine.
But the fps stays at 60 now. That isn`t a problem but before
i got above 100 / 200.

And sometimes i still see glitches.

It aren`t the mods. I have a backup of sh3. With that
i got also that strange problem.

Btw it`s a new pc.

I think that the settings in the nvdia control panel are very important.

well it looks to me like you need more memory 6 mb is not enough:O:
about it being a new pc if you didnt install the software that came with it id say its loaded with crap like all new pcs.
id say theres something running in the background causing that corruption check your prossess and see what you can disable that you dont need.:salute:

60fps at all times sounds suspiciously as though the vsync is enabled (60Hz being a common refresh rate for a monitor). In itself, doesn't really matter though, just uncheck the vsync option at the start of the game if you want the frame rates to vary according to the card's capabilities at each moment. As for the corrupted graphics, I was almost at the point of posting my screenshots of a similar nature! It's happened twice now, both times over a week ago and it just appeared part-way through a game on both occasions. I managed to save & exit both times (not easy when your pointer is a large latticework square and the text is random shapes/squiggles) and upon reload all was ok. Sorry I can't offer a solution, as I don't know what caused it in the first place and it now seems fine.

You are right ! I have vsync disabled now. Will test if i have the
freezes and bad textures again.

I want to know what caused that freeze and texture. With
my old pc i had it never.

I have got settings from Rafael. I think they will work. Played
one mission and i also didn`t see the glitches anymore.

No it is not the Intel processor, I have sent my NVIDEA settings to Java and until now everything is working fine.

Furthermore, you don't need nHancer if you have a good video card with the correct settings for SH3.

Have installed sh3 + gwx + olc gold today.
Played the bismarck mission and i got again this strange problem.
Went to the command room (F2) and i saw a all over a texture
of a beared man and that doesn`t come from sh3.
Next time i will take a screenshot.

I don't think anyone can help you with this problem, only if they have the same video card.

Try this:

1.) Uninstall first the mods and delete them, then uninstall via DVD SH3.

2.) Use RegVac Registry Cleaner, to clean your registry. Download CCleaner at http://www.ccleaner.com/ install it and check everything in tab Windows but NOT Windows/Size location Cache, Autocomplete Form History and NOT wipe free space either.

3.) Install SH3 again (do not use an external drive) in: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII so a brand new fresh install. SH3 with 1.4. Click on sh3.exe with your right mouse and go to properties.

Click tab Version and it must be 1.4.0.1.

4.) Do not use MultiSH3 or JSGME. And no SH3 Commander.

5.) Try to play the game. SH3.exe.

If the above still will not work correctly, format your computer and install Windows XP again but do not download any Windows update.

Install a fresh copy of SH3 again. A clean one.

Now let's see if the NVIDEA driver is correct.

A lot of work, but we're need to know where the exact problem is.

If you don't want to format, try to search for the correct driver (rollback) at device manager or search for the correct driver on the web for your specific video card.

I think it has something to do with the TGA's in combination with your current driver (or NVIDEA driver settings) and probably the specific mods.

I think i have found the solution.

Looked again to all my mods i have installed.
Then i see olc option 1,2,3,4. I had installed them all with
my stupidity. :damn: So i have corrected this to take one of 4 of them
and i don`t see any glitches or / and freezes and / or strange
textures anymore. :DL

Just leave the 1,2,3,4 on the left side in JSGME (read also the pdf from OLC Gold you must uninstall certain GWX mods!) and you are able to install only one (via JSGME) OLC Gold mod.

1,2 and 3 works fine. I play with number 3. (Besides WAC, NYGM, LSH3) :DL

Number 4 (OLC Gold MkII) gave me an error?

I had wrote my last message to early. Ofcourse i used the 4
versions by stupidity. But the texture problem got back the next day.

I have altered/add some register keys and the problem is now real
gone. Think that it has to do with cache.
