View Full Version : Being able to manually input range?

Is there a mod that allows you to manually input the range to a target? By that I mean to drag the range dial around to the appropriate range?? As you can only drag it round to about 1500yds, anything further and you have to use the stadimeter to get the longer ranges.

Cheers guys :)

Sure there is, cuz I can drag mine to 11,000 yards. I assume it's TMO or RSRD, but it may be the TGT/PK mod. I'll try and find out. Had it so long I can't remember which does it.

Well, i'm running TMO Overhaul but it only ever lets me drag the dial round to 1500yds at max :(

I think easy AoB does the job.

If someone can explain what to line up when manually inputing range I would enjoy reading it.

On the real thing you line up the range with the object height. So if you drag "90" around until it lines up with "3000" then that is a 90' high object at 3000yds. I love the EasyAOB mod due to the fact you can drag any range you like. It does much more than that but that alone is worth the trouble installing it.

Odd....I installed EasyAOB yesterday and I wasn't able to do that....

I think there are 2 versions of the easy AOB mod. One just does the AOB the other also covers spped and range.

ddiplock,
This is probably the mod you were looking for:http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111371

I would settle for a mod that will allow range adjustment. If it is JGSME adaptable, great. I followed all of these links and came away quite confused. One link was out of date.

Go to mods and load the Easy AOB mod.

I am very familiar with the Easy AoB mod, having been on that mod since its exception. However, the post just above mine suggests an alternative, and I am unsure if the thread it refers to is an alternative.

My mistake. EasyAOB is the popular mod that got upgraded with speed and bearing dials doing pretty much the same thing that EasyAOB did with AOB. The official name of the mod variant I'm using is "TGT DIALS TO PK FIX - RFB" (that's the directory name).

Download link is: http://www.archrow.net/misc/TGT%20DIALS%20TO%20PK%20FIX.rar
Forum thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=152945

I'm using the RFB variant because I'm running RFB/RSRD on 1.5.

I'm Goin' Down,

Post #38 at the link I provided will show the simplified directions. It is easy to do and you'll be able to set the dial to any distance.

Thanks, Captain Dave. Much appreciated.

FYI. I am up to speed on the Easy AoB mod, as I played a significant role and getting Nicolas (who unveiled the Easy AoB data changes) and ddgrn to cooperate on to produce the JGSME versions of the Easy AoB mods which, in my opinion, qualify as the mod of the year.

I made the changes to the cfg file that Captain Dave recommended. It checks out, as I tested it after leaving Midway. Now I have the Easy AoB mod with speed, AoB and range (which I believe is better described as the aspect ratio/range) combined, plus the range which can be manually adjusted as recommended by Captain Dave. This is an excellent combination as the one great weakness of the Easy AoB mod is obtaining the range/aspect ratio when it is dark, as it is sometimes impossible to line up the shadow ship with the target. Now you can skip that step and and manually input range from radar readings in a night time attack, which I am looking forward to taking a shot at (no pun intended).

Someone might want to make this a mod which can be enabled by JGSME....

:hmmm: I believe it's already part of Webster's mod.

I do not think Webster's mod works with FOTRS. Isn'this game fix mod for the stock game?

I was pointing out the limitations of the GFO mod. It doesn't apply to FOTRS. But your comment is appreciated, as I did not know about GFO.

:03: No problem. I thought I'd been reading the wrong section of the forum.
