Hi there.
I was wondering if a Destroyer (in SH3) has a limited number of DC's or are unlimited.

I understand in GWX there's an historical amount.
They do have a limited amount.
I know, because I was once depthcarged by a single DD for a long time, until they run out.
DD continued to ping me until I sunk her. :arrgh!:
Yes, they run out of depth charges.
No, they don't go away when they run out.
I remember being pinned down for quite a while in shallow water by destroyer with no charges. Kept pinging away, couldn't sneak away. Finally put a torpedo into it after three misses.

Will they radio you in when they run out?

The one I was dealing with never got reinforcements. I was off the north of Scotland, but I never saw another destroyer show up, and I was surprised not to see any planes. It was a while back, so it might have been at night.

I have a trick that gets a single destroyer everytime, any year after, the other 2 or 3 chase back to convoy.

Thanks to all.
Is nice to know there is "another way" to scape from a Destroyer.
By the way, I made a quick search in the GWX 3.0 Manual, and the only reference I see is on historical background of some ships (in real life some could carry up 20 DC, 30 DC, 40 DC or much more) but I don't see anything about quantities they could carry up in SH3.

egads! ok imagine what 6 dropped per pass? maybe 8 thats still 5-7 passes with depth charges...
enough to reduce anyone to a blubbery mess.... never mind their pants.

Remember, in RL an escort could keep a U-boat submerged for hours. Sometimes it was easier to wait until they had to surface through lack of air than to try and destroy them with a depth charge.

IIRC the DDs in sh3 had more DCs than i RL (what a begining:rotfl:) around 100 (in game) while in RL that number was smaller.Bottom line is that (as i said IIRC) they have more deptcharges ingame compared to reallife.Though this should compansate for the lack of reason in the allied escorts.

its pretty intense being pinned down by a dd for a while:yep: i was attacking a large convoy last night i sunk a black swan then noticed a flower class off about 6km with the convoy at 4km so i surfaced at flank speed and kept an eye on the flower but he ignored me and let me run at the ships:yeah: the only problem was i only had 2 torps left:shifty: i got close and missed both:88) meanwhile the flower still didnt take any notice untill the ships put the search lights on me and that escort pinned me down for about an hour and a half he ran out of deptcharges and i slipped away, this game is class.:yep:
max............:arrgh!:
If there are friends in the area they will call them in. Had one DD get a lucky return on me in the Irish sea whilst exiting a convoy, he called all his mates over from the convoy and then another DD and an Armed Trawler ( :damn: Hate them hate them hate them :damn:) showed up to join in the fun. :dead:
Made it out alive though, after a six hour ash can fest.
