Ocean currents cause plastic 'particles' to concentrate in the middle of the pacific.

The expedition will study how much debris -- mostly tiny plastic fragments -- is collecting in an expanse of sea known as the North Pacific Ocean Gyre, how that material is distributed and how it affects marine life.

Now since mother earth was kind enough to cause this mess to concentrate wouldent that make it easier to clean up?

While there out there 'studying' it how about studying how to clean it up?

Heard about the garbage patch few years ago. Pretty bad on the long run as alot of the in world's seas will end up there.
