Hey just started playing this again with GWX. If you don't have it, get it.
Just a little reminder that I had forgotten, even though I did read the GWX F:::::: Manuel, or most of it LOL. :88)
++DON'T LEAVE THE GAME SUBMERGED++ :damn:
Last night I was tired and did this and today it kept crashing to desktop.
Lost out on my last kill which was 9.5k. :shifty:
Suggestion save when surfaced at different points of the game so at least you can go back and not have to start over. I was able to go back to before the kill and had a successful day. 6 ships for 26k. :salute:
it can be related on what your computer does after several hours of user input absence. For example, is your hard disk set to shut down after x hours? Or, will your pc go in stand-by after those? Is there a planned task after user input absence, like defragmentation or updates search?

So Sag 75 went way over my pea brain. You can not save submerged....always be on the surface and out of harms way. Welcome back and Good Hunting............:salute: :salute: :salute:

Actually not to save submerged isn't some kind of rule you must always obey, but saving while submerged is really increasing the CTD probability so you do it on your own risk there..
A day before yesterday I was approaching Lerwick (did a harbour raid) but suddenly I was desperatly in need to save the game and leave for a moment. It was approximetly 15 km from land and I was going submerged, destroyers were patroling nearby so surfacing would be my last. Anyway I made a save after a while I thought ok let's give it a try and load it. Of course I basically knew what to expect but I guess I was just lucky - there was no CTD and I could carry on my approach to harbour.
The deadly alive adventure continues..
A small depot ship was already waiting for me there and couple of destroyers too which were sunk later. I got pinged by docked DD it was my luck he remained stationary :) After a while there came another two DDs but I was safe just inside the Lerwich harbour, they couldn't get me that close to harbour walls and it was still a night so I was safe from air attacks for another few hours also. These two destroyers approached to about 2.5 km and got stationary, most probably they were waiting for me to come out from the docks :) Unlucky for them stationary targets are very attractive snack for my torpedoes and they did the job perfectly. Two more destroyers were sunk. There was also docked T class and S class british subs which I had to leave alone due to lack of torps, but I promissed to come back for them :haha:
Later I was already leaving the Lerwick when I hit something underwater. The sea wasn't in her calmest state so I though I was hitting a bottom in shallow waters accidently. I couldn't get away till very morning, surfacing would probably got me killed because of coastal artillery batteries nearby and it felt like the sky was getting brighter with every minute.. When the dawn let some light into the water I checked with periscope what the hell is in my way and here it was - an ugly anti-submarine net. With patience and constantly monitoring the net I went beside it untill I found the gap to freedom! :)
Got to tell you that this was my first succesfull harbour raid so far :shucks:
Its funny I've read about this bug since SHIII came out but I've never had a problem with submerged saves. Keeping fingers toes and eyes crossed that I never do.

Try in 10.1939 run at dover or dukirken - floating dock at dover(33000t) and pasanger liner(40000t) at dunkirken both with almost no active warships. In Dover southampton class remain statonary after attack, so got also 2 torpedos :D
With type IIa had best patrols there.

I got killed at Dunkirk harbour raid in 1940. As far as I can remember I sunk one landing ship tank and a troop ship there. After that I have alerted stationary French destroyers which were docked there and they started looking for me. They were soooo damn close to me that I even thought they must have been blind and deaf if they still can't spot me :) I was almost away from their field of active search untill my luck abandoned me when I spoted British V&W steaming right at me and he got me in his first try. I was desperatly rushing close to harbour walls for cover but I could never make it in time :nope:
