I was chasing a convoy in the Caribbean Sea; escaping the DD I was hit by some depth charges, but magaged to repair the damage; though I could not mantain the depth at 1 knot and had to increase the speed to don't go too deep. I'd been chased for some hours by 2-3 DDs and I could not get rid of them as I had to change speed often and couldn't stay silent for too long. I had also some water entering. The uboat started to sink and go quite deep, 250\260 m. At once I heard the pressure hull cracking and bolts failing. I increased speed and released compressed air, but we did not make it.

Been there leg....nothing worse.....there is an option for neutral bouyancy...so depth keeping isn't an issue...but it is cheating somewhat
