sh111 wont load

hi all new here and love the site:yeah:, i have a problem with sh3 ive played before on this pc but just installed it again and it wont load i get as far as the open sequence then it dumps me to the desktop:06: when i tryed to update it to 1.4 it said wrong en- help file and i removed it then it said wrong german help file, so i removed all the help files in menu and it updated ok.

i dont get what has changed ive deleted and re-installed this game and never had this any ideas please?:damn:

I have had the file issue you had with the help files.

I can only suggest a complete uninstall and reinstall and patch. (Eventhough you have already done this)

Make sure you do a search for SH3 and Ubi files. Anything you can think of. Thats what I usually do and it works. I also use the add or remove programs in the control panel and not the game uninstaller.

If you are using Windows 7, set SH3 compatible in Windows XP SP 2

sorry forgot to add im using xpsp3 its a really strange problem im using the same files as before.

There are 4 patches of 1.4b ofwhich you need just one depending on the right world region, and whether you have a dvd or downloaded version of the game. The world regions are US and the other is EMEA (europe, middle-east, asia). Of each of those there is a dvd version and 'downloaded' version at Ubisoft's site. I suspect you have the wrong patch file of 1.4b. Make sure you chose the right one. So where and how did you buy SH3?

i have the right version, i have the game about 2 years and downloaded the updates, and noting has changed "files wise" thats what i cant figure out i use and turned off ati traytools my firewall and anti virus.
unless the files have become corrupt:hmmm:

btw even installing the dvd it still wont work.??????

Uninstall via your game disc and ensure you perform a registry clean with a reliable programme (I use regvac).

Once all residual files have been purged from your registry section you should be good to go.

found the problem it wont load with the version of ati traytools when its off the game works fine phew, now to find some ships to sink.
