The master himself puts hand on it.

However, Scott's original Alien is a movie legend. He risks losing a lot there, even more since the third Alien movie was boring and the fourth was a real desaster.

I personally do not need any more Alien movies, I would have preferred to hear news on "The everlasting war". At age 71, I wonder if Scott will ever finish that project, which is a real love of him.

Good to see Scott is more closely involved now. :yep:

Yes, but back then Scott did not plan to direct the movie himself - it seems now he does.

Like I said, good to see that he's more closely involved now. ;)

Gives me hope that it won't degrade into an epic slaughter with over-the-top effects, but turns out as something more substantial. Something that stays true to the original, and is a credit to his name.

I fail to see why a remake of Alien though if that's what it is.

Oh, a prequel. Sounds interesting but it will probably de-mystify the mystery of the first one and make it less ominous. Scott will probably deliver though.

It isnt a remake. :03:

Like I said on the other thread, I dont really like the idea of having this happen before Alien. I just cant see what the plot could be.

I mean, there cant be any human survivors, because 'Alien' was the first case when human race encountered them.

Or maybe they make it happen before spacetravel, which would propably be something like AvP2 and that would suck alot. Tho, not saying it could not work, take the movie Split Second (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105459/) (if you havent seen it, WATCH IT ASAP) for example, that was very alien-ish and set to a similar enviroment as Predator 2 and it worked very well.

And last option I can think of would be a movie without humans, which of course would be pretty darn stupid. :O:

Well if it's a prequel then it ought to cover the events leading up to Alien 1. Like, the spacecraft ending where it did with the alien eggs onboard and then the evil corporation sending the 'space truckers' of Alien 1 in harms way to collect a specimen of the alien etc.

Yeah well you know what im getting at. Okay then this question "why go back to Alien?" Stupid, Alien been done don't go back there "not even before alien" either no matter what! Oh wait we need to make 300mil lets go down a slighty different path this will draw the fans of the old days - NOT.

It will suck for me for that reason. IMO Scotts a ******! for going down that road. :nope:

Just carry on from Alien resurection.

Sky, you mean the "Forever War" by Joe Halderman right. That would make a fantastic movie.

I just read Forever Peace by Halderman and would recomend it.

As we speak, I've got a pile of pages next to me; it's like the fourth draft. It's a work in progress, but we're not dreaming it up anymore. We know what the story is. We're now actually trying to improve the three acts and make the characters better, build it up to something [we can shoot]. It's a work in progress, but we're actually making the film. There's no question about it, we're going to make the film.

According to Giger's wife, the master is working on the Alien Prequel. Definitely awesome news.

This is definitely good news if it’s true. H.R. Giger’s wife, Carmen Scheifele, has said the Swiss surrealist painter is working on the Alien Prequel. You can check out the video interview with his wife here (http://www.glanzundgloria.sf.tv/Nachrichten/Archiv/2010/12/16/Schweiz/Hollywood-ruft-nach-H.R.-Giger) and another report about it here (http://kurier.at/kultur/2058607.php). It’s in German though.

Ihr Mann sei “on board”, also dabei, sagte Scheifele. Es werde sicher einen 3D-Film geben, wahrscheinlich aber zwei. Geplant sei ein Prequel, das die Geschichte vor dem ersten Alien-Film erzählt.

Basically, she says that Giger is on-board for the prequel. It will be a 3D film – there might be two and that it takes place before the first film. H.R. Giger of course created the Alien creature as well as various set pieces in the original Alien including the Space Jockey and its spacecraft. Thanks to Undel for the news.

Aww come on, the 2 masters (Ridley Scott & H.R. Giger) put their heads together for another Alien film, it can't be bad.

Besides, there's a lot of questions to be answered from the first film that this will answer, like who are the species they found from the crashed ship they went to investigate. :yep:

And Ridley wanting to be true to the original Alien series (he doesn't exactly appreciate the AvP flicks) he wants to make another masterpiece, perfectionist that he is.

Hah, yeh, shut up! Miracle I hadn't replied to that with an angry "Scott+Giger+Alien" is the best thing to happen EVER (yes, even before sliced bread) reply. :O:

No, but seriously, I really don't think there is much to worry about this flick. Alien is Scott's baby, and he knows (gathering from lots of interviews) how big thing it is still today for the fans.

Only concern I have is the supposed new design of the aliens, Scott is big on the lore/canon that the fanbase has constructed and thus alien takes 50% or so of it's form from the host. Alien & Aliens we had human like aliens, Alien 3 we had slimmer, faster, dog alien. I really hope Scott doesn't go over the top like Predators did with the "Super Predators".

Even if Giger is onboard in this, I'm still concerned. While Giger is amazing, he did have some strange designs for the facehugger(or chestburster dont recall which) & alien for the first flick (FH/CB was a big turkey and alien a see-through version of the one that got chosen).

Still, Scott has been a solid director with the expection of Robin Hood, so.. :hmmm:

EDIT:

Ah, here's Giger's vision of the chestburster

I know for many years now there were those who worked on ALIEN liked the idea of a back story and so at last we get one. I'm a little worried this is going to be a two part story, apart from that I'm pleased Ridley is back in the chair.

Ridley has confirmed that there's going to be 2 alien prequels.
