No, it's a wife called Bernard. Last night was an all-nighter. Not having anything to do today (Friday) I went through the night on SH3, here's a rough-and-ready log of events:

Left Thalia, plotted a circuitous route roughly SW encountered a nice convoy. Intercepted, sneaked through the escorts and fired all five torpedos at four targets. (Two at a Fiji class). Two premature'd, one hit an Ore Carrier, one a Med Merchant and one the Fiji. Escaped detection and trailed the convoy from astern at a safe distance. Med Merchant went down, somewhat later so did the Ore Carrier. Reported sinkings to BdU only to find that although the log showed it as sunk (8897t) I was not credited with it in the message - total ships sunk was one short. 2hrs (RL) later, the Fiji sank as I was attempting to get close enough for a finishing shot, so I did a 180 and headed back towards Thalia. Just about 25km from where the Fiji sank, CTD. No reason, nothing happening, just getting a safe distance away to make a save.

Ok, reload the previous save, but this time missed the convoy for some reason and eventually intercepted another. No Fiji, but plenty of Med Merchants. Five torps fired, four immediate sinkings - spectacular explosions all over the place. Escaped easily this time and headed off to save, only to detect 2 seperate Med Merchants heading in different directions. Down one and chased after the other, eventually intercepting about 1hr ago (RL). Nicely lined-up, one torp right under the bow. She slows to 4kts and I slowly turn to keep station.

It is now that the wife decides to wash & dry her hair - you can see what's coming, yes? She's in a hurry and hits the boost button for extra heat. "Clunk", all the power goes off as she trips the CB in the basement. I shall not repeat my expletive in the forum, but it rhymed with "Oh CLUCKING Bell!" :damn:

To round-off a less than perfect night, the oh-so long ago save I had managed to make won't load (corrupted, what a surprise, 20% of my saves fail), so a whole night utterly wasted, lol. I'm going to lie-down now and try to think of new and visually exciting ways to commit murder without being found out. :har:

Ah, the joys of being addicted to a stupid video game. I was in the middle of a game the other night when a one-second power drop left me cursing in frustration as well. I mellowed out when I found out about the 20,000 people left with no power at all for several hours due to the substation fire in another neighborhood.

I think Hanomag has the right idea. Now if I could only find the money for it.

That's better than the old days, when you turned on too much stuff and the house burned down.:dead:

I was starting a patrol once and after taking like 5-10 minutes for the game to load up, 10 seconds after loading and ordering full ahead a transformer goes kaboom and I just saw my screen bright go down....I could have continued but I wasn't going to drain my laptop battery playing at full power It could only last no more than 1 hour...instead I manage to survive the 4-5 hours outage watching anime :nope: finally when I was bored and sleepy and my battery was at 10%, I head to bed only to wait 30 seconds before powers comes up again :rotfl:.

So next time buy a lap top with a 256 mb Nvidia card and you're ready to play anytime, anywhere.

There must be some other device sucking power through that circuit breaker aswell. Or it is just a weak circuit breaker. Maybe you can now go on a hunt ... of power saving! ;)
