Hi Everybody!
I'm new to DC and have some questions. Hopefully you can answer them.
1. Is there a Mission editor, where i can edit existing single mission an create new one? (I do not mean the impemented mission genereator, but an mission editor like SH3)
2. How can i activate the external view of my ship?
3. I downloaded the Kriegsmarine Mod, ecellent work!! But how can i join the Kriegsmarine in campaign mod?
Thanks for your help!!!!

Hi Wildboars
1.DC didn't come with a mission editor but you can manually edit all the missions using a text editor such as wordpad.
A little more tricky to use is a program called Koralle which I believe is still downloadable from subsim's download section.
Even better is kriegstanz which does not allow you to edit existing missions but lets you create new ones which can then be easily edited.

Highly recommended.
2 DC defaults to "no external camera" - a real pain.
Go to REALISM settings and enable it.
3. Sorry. Kriegsmarine was never finished. It doesn't have a campaign written for it.

Thank you very much, Horsa.
The editor was the thing, i was really looking for.
But i stil have the problem with the external view. For SH2 it is no problem, but with DC.
I have made the correct settings in the REALISM menu, but i can not access the external view during the game. Maybe i'm toooooo stupid.
I'm using the german keyboard layout, 'cause the game is the german version. According to the manual the . and the , are for external views, the same as for switching the turrets. But is doesn't work on my PC!
So, what are the keys to access to go to external view during the game????
Thank your for your help, i'm looking forward to it.
Many Greeting

Hi All:
I used to play DC a lot and also created many new missions for myself. I never uploaded and offered them 'cause most were never completely finished. Some of them were pretty large sdf files (several hundreds of KB). Unfortunately, today all of these scenarios are lost, since my old computer computer died and I had no backup copies of them.
Years have passed and other naval simulations have come and gone. Still I've found no other one that produced me so much joy and fun as DC. With so many addons and mods collectively developed by enthusiasts that I found at the time in this site, the real fact is that I'm still firmly hooked to this game. I think it is a grossly underestimated naval simulation.
Recently, this nostalgia brought me back to reinstall DC on my new Windows Vista PC and start playing it again. I'm just in the process to reconstruct my lost mission files from old, sometimes jeroglific, notes that I took at the time I was creating then with Kriegstanz Developer v2.5. Right now I'm reconstructing my favorite 5-part Exercise Rhine mission (miny campaign?). My problem is that I've lost most of the DC/SHII mission editing guides and information collected over the years from these subsim fora that were inmmensely helpful-I will say essential-to understand how to hand edit scenario files.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone outhere can refer me any source that still contain info on how to hand edit DC scenario files.
Regards,

P.S. English is not my mother language, so excuse me if you feel that my post is difficult to understand or you find any mistakes in it. Thanks

reaOOcy when you have finished a scenario or two I would love to see them if you are willing to share. I am very glad you have come back, ys DC is a remarkable sim and I am very much enjoying exploring its potential for the first time.

Thank you very much Horsa: I have not read those notes in detail but they look great. I was trying to create scenarios with different weather conditions (as I did years ago in my Exercise Rhine or the St Nazaire raid sdfs) and I couldn't remeber how to make it work when different weather blocks were edited.
Von Gerlach: Sure I will make my scenarios available to everybody this time. It will take some time 'cause this scenarios are strongly based on historical data so the different blocks that compose it (weather conditions, groups, units, msgs) are hand edited/tested again and again many times until they get as close as I can to the historic data.
Here are some Q: How-to's
1)modify rate of fire
2)modify the amount of punish a particular unit can assimilate before being destroyed (Is it controlled by tonnage, armour, a combination of both?)
3) put some degree of damage on a particular unit (I remeber that in the SHII single mission "Dying Battleship" the Bismarck had an entry damage = %, but I never could make it work in DC)
Any help?
Rate of fire:
Controlled by the DDF file in the Systems folder
Punishment(damage) a ship can take
Determined by the TONNAGE figure. When your enemy exceeds this value the ship becomes "destroyed" and inoperable.
ARMOR value will make it more resistant to the effects of shellfire. In theory it will add less "damage" to the ship.
Never tried the damage text line but assumed it was added to the UDF file.

Never could make SIGHTING OR CONTACT triggers work for radio messages. Neither with groups nor with units.:damn:
Any suggestion?

Other than specific ROEs (like ATTACK, x,MAIN,unit...and similars), what else controls when the AI would start shelling the player's units?
I found (I'm not pretending that I rediscovered the wheel; only that this is new to me) under the ammo files in the system folder and entry saying:
range = xxxxxx meters
The numbers vary wildy from ammo to ammo. Like 125000 m in a Gun 15InchAP _H to only 36520 m for the German 380mmAP_H (these files were modified by Horsa) My point is that this number doesn't seem to control AI firing on you (the player) although by trial an error I found that the large the range it start firing upon you farther. With all respect, Horsa, could you dedicate a few minutes to explain those numbers tome. They are driving me crazy. What I'm missing?:D
Thanks,
