View Full Version : Our government is full of pansies
There's been 3 cases recently involving finnish peacekeepers coming under fire in Afghanistan, the latest (http://yle.fi/uutiset/news/2009/07/finnish_peacekeepers_involved_in_afghanistan_gunba ttle_888070.html) being the first time they had to return fire during their time in Afghanistan.
Anywho, now there's politicians coming forth saying we have to pull our troops out because of that. :-?
While they arent being pulled, I have to wonder, what our government would be like in-case of an bigger engagement? Bring out the white flags and give up when things get abit heated? :shifty:
On a off topic note: What is our president doing nowadays anyway? I have heard almost nothing of her in months in terms of political stuff. (not that I care, I cant wait to get rid of the cow)

That doesn't sound good. So if your country gets invaded, where will they pull the troops out to then?:O:

I know some UN guys who have been there, not sure if the're deployed right now. Their salary really isn't that amazing considering the 24-hour nature of the job. And you, Mr armchair general, would like to see them more in harms way?
Btw, I don't give a **** what politicians think, they got us into this mess, let's see them get us out of it.
And you, Mr armchair general, would like to see them more in harms way?
No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying our politicans are pansies. They made the decision to send our troops there and now with first sign of danger, they want to pull them out.
I mean, what the hell did they expect?

I didn't get that impression from Dowly. I thought he meant that, rather than seeing them in harm's way, he'd like them to show some backbone when they are actually there.

Dowly is not an Armchair General.
He's more of a CouchPotato Admiral. :haha:
Dowly is not an Armchair General.
True that, I has no armchair. :-?
@Aramike
Yes, that's pretty much what I meant. Our politicians are eager to make Finland look 'involved' everywhere and anytime, but at times it really looks that they dont think it through, this being a good example.

Don't worry Dowly, it's just the lefternmost side trying all possible means to pull them out. Of course it won't work. I'd only start worrying if it turns out that some of the decisionmakers were so idealistic or misinformed that they truly believed they were sending the guys and girls to a place where getting shot at is absolutely unheard of. Hell, we've already had one KIA(due to an IED) and several wounded in the same operation, so the situation shouldn't be big news to anyone who is deciding on its fate.
