I've been playing this game 6-8 hours per day for a year now (minus 2 week breaks for R&R every 4 months or so).

It has yet to even come close to not being exciting.

Is that too much? Is there a SH IV support group or a 12 step plan I can get into?

Hope you're not married.:haha:

Don't forget the real world. I play a lot too, but currently out of work due to 3 operations that laid me up in bed for months, so my wife bought me a computer game. Between this and online poker it's therapy from being bored.

LOL - I am with ya bro. I have been playing it so much I have not been posting here as much as I used to... and my wife, oh boy. But at least she knows I am not in a bar somewhere with hookers and tequila... :D

Sorry to hear about your health issues, Mr. A - get better soon!

PC games are as addictive as much as anything else. :D

I can imagine getting too much into the game, its like a good book you want to keep on reading..

Just remember you can SAVE the game:salute:

But dont let the game dictate your live, the game has no family or loved ones and doesnt mind being shut off,but the family does!

A,well i learned that lesson in my BF2 time,ruined my wrist(rsi) and lived like a monk for a year.get up,work,get home,play,sleep,get up,work,get home,play etc..that's when i discovered the tranquility of SH3(later 4) and i was like......ahhhhhhhhhh this is relaxing!

My tip,try to make a time-table for yourself, and plan the game time between different things, then your interest in other things will be stimulated, and you will game less.Good luck!

@Armistead all the best!

......and step away from the keyboard! LOL.

It can be addictive, no argument, but you have to take some time away from the machine if for no other reason than to get some fresh air and stop and smell the roses.

If you're feeling guilty because you're playing too much..............you're playing too much!!!!

Having said that, there's a helluva lot worse things to be addicted to.:salute:

This game actually killed what little interest I had left in current pop culture. FJB's Radio Stations are always playing when I'm on patrol and the whole vibe of that period seems to have soaked into my brain. As a result I find current music and entertainment bland and childish (there are a few exceptions). I tell my friends how Seinfeld is really just a rip off of Jack Benny and how the seeds for Civil Rights and Feminism were actually planted during the war years, thanks to factories changing hiring policies and they stare at me blank faced. This game really opened the era up and brought it to life thanks to modders like FJB. :salute:

Yes, I'm addicted.

You know... whatever our differences are in life and taste...

There is something about the Silent Hunter series... that is like slipping into a nice hot bath... with a good cigarette and a double-shot of good whiskey...

In some ways... just riding on the surface and rolling with the waves... listening to the gramophone... and watching the sun go down... the moon come up... and the sun come up again...

... is simply good therapy in itself I think.

Do we really need help??? ... or is this 'game' really the help we need to begin with???

Somethin' to think about.:ping:

actually giving your eyes and wrist time away from the computer will keep them well. Which in the long run will promote you to having a long time to play overall. :DL:yeah:

What if I don't live long enough to enjoy all that extra time? Drive it like ya stole it, babeeeeee! I can sleep when I'm dead...
