I recently purchased a canon Rebel :Dsecond hand and unfortunately
the CD that came with it is cracked :shifty:and isnt able to install the software.
Consequently I am unable to upload any pics from the camera to the
computer. :damn:
So does anyone have a copy of a canon EOS Digital Solutions Disk
v. 6.1 or later that they would care to part with for a few days.
if so thanks a bunch.

I wonder if that software is available as a download from their site?

You might want to give the following website a look, maybe it will work.
http://www.adidap.com/2006/11/02/what-to-do-if-you-lost-your-canon-software-cd/
Or go to Canon Canada website, the software is suposedly downloadable there

Edit: Thats the best i could gome up with outside of torrents which i havent bothered to look into.

You can download all drivers and software from Canon's website (Service/downloads). That'S the way to update the software on CD anyway.
Windows XP should be able to retrieve pictures from your Camera even without any installed Canon software, by simply attaching the Camera via the cable to the PC, and then a Windows requester opens up. I can confrim that for 3 different Canon cameras I use(d), though none of them was/is an EOS (my only EOS is an old analogue model).
Canon EOS - the only choice I consider when thinking about SLR cameras. 25 years of exclusively most positive experiences. :yeah:

Nikon D90..Dad has one and it is one hell of a camera.
Saying that I wouldn't sniff at a Canon...
Those two and Olympus are probably the best for SLRs.

well a good try all around but I am still not having much luck.
what I am getting is upgrades not executables.
as for direct access by xp it didnt work the first time I tried it and
I had expected it would I will have to re examine the problem again
and see whats happening ... IIRC when I hooked up the camera via
usb it didnt show up in My computer ... that lead me to the belief
that I need the executable from the disc ( or a later disc ) figuring
that there is something I dont know about cannon eos. stuff.
Hmmm dammit.

Maybe I was too early - my digital cameras all were compact class only, Canon Powershots, not EOS, my only EOS is analogue. And it is possible that you camera does not JPG picture processing, but RAW. Maybe XP does not recognise it for any of these reasons, or both.
searching Ebay for that disk might be help.

Look what Santa Claus has spotted: http://cgi.ebay.de/CANON-EOS-DIGITAL-SOLUTIONS-DISK-VERSION-32-0_W0QQitemZ270415303394QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Books _NonFictionBooks_NonFictionBooks_SM?hash=item3ef60 212e2&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177&_trkparms=%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 German Ebay, but item is located in England. Price is impertinent, but if you have no other options...

[edit] On a closing note the actual problem of not being able to communicate with the
computer was a setting in the menu of the camera whereby I had to switch "Communications"
from the default used by the canon software to Peer2Peer and NTSC problem solved
ready to shoot I cant wait for autumn.
thanks again everyone
