Sudden air blast sound... ???

I've been getting a super-loud noise every now and then, mostly on the surface. It sounds like a hell of an air blast, as if all the compressed air has been blown out at once. But there is no effect on compressed air level, and no other effects anywhere that I can see. This started to happen just a few weeks ago. I've never noticed this before.

Has anyone experienced this, and, if so, what is it?

I had a sound error and heared 'passing thermal layer' every 10 seconds....on the surface.

I get that sound once in awhile, never really paid attention, but I think it's when I hit surface and I assume it's tanks blowing. However, I use some sound mod's.

anyway, can you give a bit more info, Robedslv? when and especially where does it happen? Where are you at that moment, are there any AI units near that you know of?

I get this most times when loading a saved game. The rush of air and if I'm not mistaken the sound of a torpedo heading out too. It doesn't affect gameplay and is only at the initial opening of the saved game. I'm not sure location is a factor as it happens most times when loading a save game regardless of where I'm at.

I think you all may be experiencing the famed "random subnet sound bug", must have carried over from Silent Hunter 3.

Thanks for the responses, but let me clarify this a little bit more:
- It is not the sound of a torpedo launch. It is many times louder, and it really sounds like air tanks blowing suddenly and completely. However, there is no impact on air tanks or compressed air reserves.
- It happens randomly. I tried to check if it had any relation to loading a saved game, but sometimes it happens long after the saved game is loaded. And it happens many times during a single game session, so I don't think it is related to loading a saved game.
- I noticed that it happens on the surface and submerged. There is no relation to a specific location, so it does not seem to be related to anti-sub nets.
- I run RSRD without any additional sound mod.
For me, the main problem is that I play using headphones. So just imagine how I jump every now and then when the thing just explodes in my ears. Have to rip the headphones away!!! :o
There's no advance warning. It just goes off like a very loud air bomb.

It doe's happen when you load a saved game. If you look behind your sub it also leaves some big air cloud. Doesn't hurt the game.

I know exactly what your talking about, it sounds like an air line blew in half right beside your head. I was setting up a surface attack one night and it did that. Beer went everywhere and I almost had to change my pants. :shifty:

I'm not sure what causes it but the big mods (TMO, RFB) eliminate the problem. I can't remember if the ROW sound mod fixes it or not but it's easy to try it out.

I get it, randomly and occasionally, sometimes even when silent running. I've just got used to it and assume it's part of the atmosphere.

It never happened in stock Gold, only started since loading TMO and RSRD.
