WAPAKONETA, Ohio -- No one realized that the air conditioning at the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta automatically turned off overnight Sunday night into Monday morning.

The "heat" caused the cheddar cheese sculpture of an astronaut to soften and slip off its base causing damage to the artwork made from nearly a ton of cheese.

Artist Sarah Kaufmann from near Cincinnati spend 59 hours carving the spaceman Friday, Saturday and Sunday as part of the weekend festivities at the museum.

Hundreds of visitors to the museum on Monday, the 40th anniversary of the landing on the moon, were disappointed
