I am not certain because other areas in your country may use these codes, but in the UK:
+44 is the international UK code and 0161 is the code for the city of Manchester.
Therefore +44 161 832 9774 could be a call from Manchester.
I'll ring it from my end if you want me to.
Mind you, any multi million pound windfall and we'll have to share :DL
Edit: There were no responses before I ran a directory search

lol no biggie... i suppose if it was important enough they would have left a message.
the number looked strange on the screen of my phone - i cant recall ever once receiving an international call so when i saw it i thought
"Hmmm that doesnt look remotely familiar, better let the voicemail get this one."
thanks for helping me narrow it down guys

Manchester, eh? Could be one of three people.
Liam or Noel Gallagher or Alex Ferguson. I'd say Alex cause he seems to be getting desperate looking for replacements for C. Ronaldo. :)

I got some Asian call me up who claims she was from Australia and wanted to sell me a cheap holiday trip to Aussie. I said no thank you politely as i know. And hung up. 10 minutes later she rings again and again she asks me if i would like more info on the trip. No thank you politely as i know. Then she rings again this time i was getting annoyed so i said what part of the English language you do not understand. She said in a sarcastic way that she just wanted to sell me this good offer & i need to relax! So i hung up.
But wait there's more!
The next morning the phone rang and yep same person with same offer. Well the politeness went out the window and i told her to F**k off i don't want your scammy deal. Thought that would of ended the scammer from calling me ever again? Nope :har: She rang me again this time not to offer me the trip but to tell me to F**k off. Funny thing I laughed out loud cause with her broken English she sounded the F word as fook off. So it was No you fook off you basta*d you fook off. And she hung up. :har::haha:
And after that drama she never rang back. :yeah:
Some are so desperate to get your bank acc details. :nope:

Had the same thing happen to me ,some Indian guy trying to sell me something , kept ringing back till i told him to *******Off ,He rings back with "No You *******Off" - I got the last laugh though , We've got a little thing here in Australia called "The No Call Register" , put your phone numbers into it and the Direct marketers can't ring you and if they do theres Big Fines :D (using overseas call centres can't get around the law either , because the companies that hire them get nailed:up: ).I explained all this to the idiot the 1st time he called me, but some people don't learn, so after he hang up the last time I gave the register a call and gave them the company and the times for the calls:03:

In reality one should never answer unknown international calls, let alone call them back. The fee could be astronomical and there's nothing that can be done about it. They make these expensive numbers to call back to and call people from abroad and try to get people to call them back and then fleece them with the price. Very effective system really.

I leave my answering machine in French language mode. What gets me is the number of people that still don't leave a message when I gave them the number. Works pretty good in discouraging the telemarketers that somehow just ignore the do not call list. Best one was a local school calling about an election issue that actually had a French speaker call back!

Just tell em you need to go sort the baby/dog/girlfriend/whatever out then put the phone down and carry on doing what you were doing before they disturbed you.
