OMG, it's almost that time of year.:D If your interested, post here so I can get organized.

It's oh-ficial!:woot: The league is up. All subsimmers are invited:woot:

We'll work out the draft details later, I'm leaning on the on-line draft:D, it looks like they have a practice version of it. If tons of people sign up, I'll expand the league size.:yeah:

We've done off-line in the past (for the comradery) but it takes awhile to do. we use the voip at yahooI'd go for first week in September, personally. That's what the home leagues I run do. Most guys I know prefer to get the majority of the preseason out of the way prior to drafting.

It's really easy. Thanks for signing up. Why, it's so easy, even bearz and pakker fanz can figure it out:haha:.

You just need to survive the draft, which can be fun, but it just takes awhile to get through it:o. It takes about 2 hours and is a big hassel on my end. But, it is worth it.

You basically pick a: qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, a kicker, TE, a team defense, and some reserve players (I forget how many ). Yahoo's FF is pretty easy, it's just click and drag to change players. You need to monitor your team to make sure you have all the spots filled each week.

Ok. I forget what the format was last year, you picked my team as I could not make it ;)
Does the draft go like: ( Round 1 ) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.... then ( Round 2 ) 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.... then ( Round 3 ) 1,2,3... ??

Also, has AVG been contacted, he was in last year.

Great, I hope avg can join us.

on a side note:
I need input on the draft type we do: on-line or off-line?
Online: Pros: Faster (timewise)
Cons: must be organised or yahoo picks for you.

Off-line:
Pros: tradition~comradery, user friendly, no rush to decide, if you can't attend, I pick for you.

Cons: Slow (may take 2 hours), must have a working mic and yahoo voip working.
Oh, on a draft day note, late Aug would be great Sat or sun. The first week of sept is really bad for me, as have have my civil war stuff.
If you can't make the draft, it's not the end of the world, we can work out the details.

I don't like Yahoo picking for you, so now I am thinking Off-line, but does not really matter in the end.

Dear Commish
(I'm haveing difficulties envisaging NickiMcBee in the Miller Lite Commish outfit)

Is it this weekend or next weekend for the draft?

I've heard back from enough people that Aug 30th sunday at 11 am (pacific standard time) is a good time for them, so I'll go with that.

Please budget about 2 hours of time for the draft. ( that's how long the last 2 have gone)

If you can't make it then, I'll post more details on what to do.

I'll post some more later:D

Things you need for Draft day:

2 hours of free time

A funtioning version of yahoo messenger.
This has caused chaos in the past, so make sure it is working before the draft. If you want to talk to everybody, you'll need a (functioning) mic. You absolutely need to have working speakers so you can atleast hear everything. If you don't have/want a mic, when it's your team's turn to draft, you can just type it in chat mode.

I have most of your IM names on my friend list, so if you're not on my list, please add me (nikimcbee) to your list. This helps in the creation and joining of the chat room. **if you don't like any IM, this is the only time we use it, so you can un-install it after the draft.

What if I can't make the draft?
No worries. Submit a list to me of your position order (by round) BEFORE the draft day (aug 30th) and I'll pick the next highest player from the yahoo draft ranking list that's avalible.

Roster Positions: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN BN= back up players

Anything else I'm missing, feel free to add.

If you see me on-line, feel free to contact me to test everything out before draft day.

Brady just doesn't look healthy. Hasselbeck-cracked a rib. Westbrook- high ankle sprain? Portis dinged? Marion Barber - strained quad? Frank Gore - ankle. DeShean Jackson - groin. Steve Smith-Carolina- sprained ankle.

With a 16 team league the waiver wire sure has slim pickings and it's only week 2.
Injuries are the part of FFL that I hate.

Yes, there were a few, but I think only very early in the season. Its hard to find trading in any league. People just are too afraid to let their guys go, even if those guys are just sitting week-in, week-out. You need a league of extra smart football guys and the right conditions to make it happen.

...So why did you start Hasselbeck over Brady?:hmmm:

1. Hasselbeck was supposed to be the hot qb of the week (see last week's performance). According to the experts:timeout:
2. Houshmanzadhesdfgihsdfigyf + Burleson + Hasselbeck= (theoretically) all on the same page; lot's o' points. Anytime my WR scores points, I also get the points for the QB:hmmm:

3. Seattle @home:yeah:.
4. Dude, it's AZ:haha:
4. Bad weather in NE

Now, having said that, all of the experts were not picking MH as their qb. So I thought I'd take a chance on a big point payout and put all of my eggs in one basket...

Instead, the seachickens laid an egg, and Mr. TB reverted back to 2007 form and scored as many points as I was projecting for those other 3 combined:oops::nope:

So, to put it in military terms, I pulled a monty and this was my operation marketgarden.:wah:

I'm not in he running for anything at this point, but I'm really really enjoying my first fantasy football experience. I will definitely be back next year. Here are my lessons learned so far:

1. You will get f*cked in the draft - no matter what all of the preseason pundits say, you will draft a "sure thing" that turns out to be anything but. I was looking at my week 1 lineup and comparing it to my current lineup...my how things change. Roy Williams - a joke. Steven Jackson, Mr. elite running back - HA! Hasn't scored a touchdown all year. He's putting up decent points, but nothing to write home about and nothing to justify his second round draft position. Don't over analyze and go with the tried and true tested guys. Rothlesberger is a great QB for me this year. Best pick of draft day for me.

2. Just when you think you got screwed in the draft and drop the guys who screwed you, they come back to bite you - See Eddie Royal, Lance Moore, Hakeem Nicks

3. Corollary to #2: Don't be too quick to drop someone just because they had a bad week or else they will indeed come back to bite you. Also, don't overthink things and be quick to bench someone because they had a down week. I did this with Kellen Winslow earlier this year and missed out on some great points the week I benched him.

4. Corollary to the corrollary of #2: The waiver wire is your friend - You can snipe some good players that people were quick to drop before you.

5. Don't lose sight of your goal of fielding a competitive team every week - I got screwed a couple weeks ago because I strayed from my draft day strategy of picking a balanced team whose bye weeks wouldn't come all on the same week. You'll be left scrambling if your entire starting lineup is on a bye week.

6. Don't overthink things and get talked into something because the pundits said so. Sometimes matchups don't matter and you have to go with talent - See Drew Brees against the G-men this past weekend.

mookie: I'm glad you're having a good time. Just think of all the time at work you'll waste looking at silly stats:D

1. You will get f*cked in the draft - no matter what all of the preseason pundits say, you will draft a "sure thing" that turns out to be anything but.

See me last year, when I drafted Mr. Brady (again) and he got hurt on the first play of the season:wah::damn:.

6. Don't overthink things and get talked into something because the pundits said so. Sometimes matchups don't matter and you have to go with talent - See Drew Brees against the G-men this past weekend.

wait, why would you say that....nevermind:har:

I'll add to your list: Don't live in the past. And just because I've drafted Mr Brady 3 years in a row doesn't mean anything.:hmmm:

I clicked the optimal line-up...and I would have had a mere......167 points :o.

I didn't start TB because I felt sorry for RDP:D.

Have got to say im really enjoying my first fantasy experience.
Have to to agree with Mookie's points listed above.
Though i was pissed at missing the draft due to being out of the country on work commitments. Was really looking forward to chatting to all of you on-line and getting a feel of how the whole league worked.
I must say a huge thanks to Niki though for picking for me in the draft.
If we ever meet i owe you a beer.
Also Niki a big thanks for setting up the league for us.
Through playing it has taught me a lot about the game i never knew before. Also it has had me screaming at the TV on a Sunday night for the QB to throw for a TD instead of running the ball in or yelling at him to throw to my fantasy WR . Then Berating my WR every time they drop the ball. It has just added a extra spice to Sunday evenings for me.

How im going to cope when i away for 4 weeks in Germany next month i have no idea.
