Professional snipers have been brought in to guard a vulnerable colony of penguins in Australia.
The deployment follows the mysterious deaths of nine of the flightless birds over the last two weeks.

The main suspects are dogs and foxes. At 40cm tall, the world's smallest penguin species is clearly no match for such aggressive enemies.
Arent they interferring with natures order?
Besides you need 'snipers' to deal with dogs and foxes? :rotfl:
I can do that with a slingshot for cryin out loud.

With the amount of feral animals out there they may need machine guns and claymore mines!

I think they want people who can hit what they aim at rather than hoping for the best. I doub't they are deploying SAS snipers to do the deed.

Naah, they need someone who has lived out in the australian outback, someone who knows how to survive, someone who has slept in the corpses of water buffaloes to survive the chilling nights...
They don't need any sniper, they need The Sniper!

Hrm where exactly does one procure 'professional snipers" ?
Deposit enough coin into my bank account and I'll let you know.:D
I say we begin arming and training the Penguins.

Sounds more like the BBC just wanted to draw some attention to the article by calling the marksmen, snipers.
Anyone see the related video on gay penguins? :-? I always thought animals were not capable of being homosexual.

I've personally seen two male goats going at it, homosexuality is quite widespread, despite what the christians would like you to believe.

What kind of a safety bubble have you been living in? Homosexuality is as wiespread in other species as it is in humans.

<in a blatant attempt to steer away from the homosexuality debate>
It looks like the Aussies have shifted they're preferences away from sheep and over to penguins :DL

I've actually never heard that before, but then again It's not like I've really been anywhere before where it was mentioned. I know dogs will mount same sex dogs and hump them. But that's just the dog on top showing authority over the other.
Edit: @jimbuna, it took me a moment to catch what you were saying. :har: You'd think they'd be too small.
