It's currently January 1941.
I've had loads of encounters with escorts now, but something is bothering me.
Even when my stealth indicator is red for prolonged periods of time, the depth charges don't damage me. I even tried running flank speed and stopping when the destroyer as on top of me, no damage, just camera shake.
So is it a case of the Royal Navy being rubbish, or is it possibly Longer Repair Times conflicting with something?

The Stealth Meter is just that: an indicator of how noisy you are being. It doesn't necessarily mean they have your exact location, or that they've even found you - just that you are agressively inviting them to.
What other mods are you using? A long time ago there was a mod called 'Real Depth Charge', and I think a lot of the supermods use the same parameters.
See, in the stock game depth charges could kill you almost instantly. Then someone discovered that the kill radius was set at 25 meters and the damage radius at 75, or something similar. Now they are set at roughly 8 and 20 meters respectively, or fairly close to those. The reality was that some boats were depth-charged for hours and only took minimal damage, while everyone knew that just one in the right spot might kill you instantly.
Now, in the game, that is possible. Yes, you should get a lot of shaking and minimal damage - at least until that one lucky (or unlucky, depending on POV) hit nails you.

I am using Enhanced Damage Effects which might be conflicting? Maybe you are right, perhaps i'm just being lucky. However, the destroyer has been directly on top of me and dropped tonnes of ash cans but none have hit.

How true!!!!
Later in the war, the depth charges can go deeper and then they'll reach out and touch you.

Just like Depeche Mode? :D
Hehehe, can't wait to start that little nail biter. The sadistic side of me is beginning to enjoy the depth charging more than the torpedo'ing. I suppose it will be a different story come '43 :O:

Yup. Next time you start a career... start in 1944... and ummm... feel the pai... I mean increased effectiveness of ASW measures in comparison to early war effectiveness.

The latter has already been done for you. (If you are using GWX that is.... and is balanced to reduce the old "DD Suicide Bug.")
