need help installing w/ vista

need some help guys -- coming back to sh4 after a long hiatus, trying to install it on a new laptup which is running vista, but get ctd immediately w/ message "d3dx9_32.dll file not found."

any ideas? thx

avg, i may be displaying some serious ignorance, but i thought the dx10 that comes w/ vista is a replacement for dx9 -- am i wrong?

DX10 is an upgrade over DX9 but Vista can still run DX9 for applications that need DX9(just about all of them :03:). Load the SH4 DX9 from the disc to your Vista OS. You will not screw up your DX10 capabilities. Looks to me your game is asking for DX9 that you did not load off the disc. You have to have DX9 to run SH4. So load it. Vista will not care but will let you use DX9 when needed and will let you use DX10 when needed. You have the best of both worlds now.
