Need help new in SH3

Hi i have played sh4 and now i'm try to play sh3 and i don't know how to identify enemy ship, becous there is neutrals ships and if i sunk them i lost renowns

I,m with gwx 3.0 now i just instaled sh3 and gwx 3.0 but still i don't get it :D

you need to switch to UZO or periscope (F3) view.There is Flag recognition tool in left upper corner of screen (pull it down for use).

At night, if a ship is dark, it is fair game; if the ship is traveling with lights, it is neutral; during the day, you must ID the vessel by approaching close enough to see the flag . Then refer to the chart or use F1 to bring up the table of neutrals.
If a neutral ship is guarded by a belligerent war ship, it is fair game, even if neutral, as is a vessel in a belligerent convoy.
Leave hospital ships alone; they will be lit and will have a large red cross.

There is no renown awarded for patrolling your assigned area in GWX3.0 so simply ignore it and patrol another area of your choosing if you like.

But they were in real life, especially after 1941. If I encounter a dark ship and sink it, only to find out it was a neutral, I edit my renown to eliminate the penalty, if it has occurred. Often, though, it hasn't for some reason.

Wow...its not a arcade game..you have to hunt just like they did back in WWII.
Not every U Boat struck gold on every patrol,most did not see anything,thats what GWX is al'about..real patrols.

I can assure you that Sh4 isn't going to appeal either. There is no way around it. Subs are slow business. And the depth of the game (no pun intended) doesn't show after a week or so of playing it, at the least. Seriously, give it more time before you dump and ditch it. Besides, you have the wrong idea about getting new missions. Yes, they are allways going to be essentially the same: go somewhere and kill stuf... The difference in each patrol is that YOU decide where to go next and WHAT to kill, and HOW. And that is all based on what the game throws at you in terms of enemies and weather. No patrol will ever be the same. If you can't find targets it means you haven't looked well enough or just ignored the information that was shown on the map.
