Did they drop those aggravating sneaking scenes from the first one? I use to absolutely hate playing as Billy.

I've seen the trailers, and there is no sight of any sneaking there:doh:
Meh, no blood, cant shoot civvies, the brother thingy is abit stupid at times, graphics are "ok" but not great, voice acting is abit too over the top. And that's just from the first 2 missions I've played.
After the first few levels, the game gets better, quite enjoyable to be honest. Tho, I'd give anything to be able to shoot that 3rd brother, the darn priest. All he does is whine whine whine. GAAARGH!!!
The mp is a blast to play, shame there is only 5 or six servers only
Here's a quickly what I though about it (still havent played it thru, tho).
Pretty nifty game and surely to please those who liked the original CoJ. The engine is Call of Duty old faithful, in good and bad.
Graphics are pretty, tho the bloom effect (as it seems to be the trend today) is at times used way too much.
Sounds are ok, nothing awesome, but pretty good. Voice acting is well done mostly aswell, tho some actors have drank WAAAY too much whiskey.
Abit about the story. in CoJ:BiB, we follow the happenings of three brothers (Ray, Thomas and William) from the end of American Civil War onwards. Thomas is the middle one, thinks before acts, but doesnt hesitate to grab his gun in a plink of an eye. Ray is the oldest, a rambo who does and thinks then, lives life with "I want that and I will have it" principle. Now, the youngest one, priest William. William's the nightmare of every player, he doesnt carry a gun, gets in your way and cant stop whining about the inmorality of his brothers in every darned cutscene (Hey, it's not my fault if some pothead picks a fight and my only choice is to pump him full of lead!). The story starts with Ray & Thomas, holding a line near their homefarm. When the order comes to retreat, the brothers desert to save their home... too late, naturally. And here begins their quest to rebuild their home that takes them all the way to Mexico.
Gameplay wise CoJ is like it's the original; smooth. The old bullettime tricks are there, with few new ones thrown to the bunch. Before every 'mission', you get to choose if you want to play as Ray or Thomas. Ray's a gunslinger, holding dual pistols, dynamite and rifle. Thomas gives abit more options, he has his pistol, rifle, bow, throwing knives and a lasso, that let's you get past certain areas. Good idea, but which you pick has no effect to the game. If you come to a spot where you need the lasso to get past it and you happen to play as Ray, no worries, Thomas will handle the situation automatically and you just have to cover him.
Righto, I think that's it. Good game. :yeah:

Got the game yesterday and have to say I'd agree with Dowly's review ^^^
First few missions are a bit tedious, but as the story gets going, they get better. And yeah I really want to shoot William in the face too. Also the cover system is quite nifty, basically you move behind a wall and you'll automatically hide behind it, using the mouse to lean, it works surprisingly well. If I had to score the game I'd probably give it 7.5-8/10

Call fo Juarez series is a disappointment. I was really looking forward to finally playing a western theme game. But, these games are too linear and force you to play such a limited narrow storyline in a very restricted environment. I would rather have seen more of an RPG open world like Oblivion to explore.
can you aim with all the guns, pistols and stuff (don't know the right word) i mean like you do in arma
Ironsights? Not as far as I know. You can zoom in, but the gun gets all blurry with the depth of field. The good thing is, that the game is easily moddable, so I bet there's going to be an ironsight mod in the future. :salute:

Agreed. I really need a GOOD, replayable, western game. CoJ was too linear. It had absolutely no replay value for me. I beat it and promptly uninstalled it in the same day. It was so short:dead:
What about the new CoJ? Is it another one of those 2-10 hour games?

Wait for Red Dead Redemption then. The only bad thing about redemption is that its only for the consoles at the moment, but rockstar usually always brings their games to the computer.

It's pretty much like GTA goes wild west.
Some of the highlights are:
-Random Encounters like Fallout 3
-Wild animals that have their own AI, from Deer to Mountain lions
-You can hunt the animals and get rewarded for what you kill
-If you walk into a town you can see into every building and also enter every building.
-The environment is supposedly rockstars biggest and will cover, the western territories, some of Mexico, and then the northern territories.
-will use RAGE and Euphoria engines
-dead aim ability, lets you kill people in slow mo, has two levels.
-will use a cover system like GTA4
-if you go into a town, you can kill everyone in it, turning it into a ghost town. If you wait a while, people will slowly start to come back.
-you can hold 4 weapons/items at a time, a pistol, a rifle, a knife, and then a lasso or kerosene lamp.
-you can buy horses, steal horses, or break in wild horses, and the longer you ride any horse, the better it gets
-the horses will have their own AI, so if you're chasing a stage coach, you can shoot at it and not have to worry about steering the horse.
-To travel through the land you can manually walk or ride a horse to a place, or you can catch a ride on a stage coach or train. If the distance is long you can take a nap and wake up when you get there.
Here's the source for all of this:

I bought CoJ:BiB the first day it came out, I do agree it starts out pretty tedious but in the later portions its quite fun. Its definately something to wet my western appetite until Red Dead Redemption comes out.

I think i've played for about 8 hours and I'm in the last act. I can't really say anything about replay value because I've replayed the story for Call of Duty 4 10-12 times. But the only reason I see for replaying CoJ is for the fact that you get different trophies/achivements for playing as one brother through the whole game, and each level plays out differently depending on which brother you're using.

Really looking forward to Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Revolver was always one of my favourite PS2 games, just hope the sequel is as good...

Guys if you want a good Western Game then just download Smokin' Guns. It has all the features of Call of Juarez but it's free and modable. And I'm pretty sure most of us can learn to put up with the graphics.
Yahtzee :yeah:

Finished it last week. I quite enjoyed it. One of the games I will definitely re-play again in the future (along with both S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, CoDs, Assassin's Creed etc.)
