Stargate game!

You know, a good old FPS style game with semi-dynamic storyline. Stargate Command would naturally be the starting point for every mission, you choose mission and get some nice cutscene briefing with all the original characters (and voice actors would have to be the originals!!!).

After the briefing, you go to the armory (of course, you have to walk from the briefing room to the armory) to get your weapons. Before going thru the gate, you'd get the choice to use either the robot or UAV to scan the planet you are going to beforehand.

Once you go to the gate, the game would randomise how the planet is. Is there life? Is there anything valuable? Goauld presence? etc. etc.

As for story, well it could be as simple as the show, main goal is to find means to destroy the Goauld threat. Side stories would unfold as you find them. Maybe have 3-5 system lords, that you have to find and kill. But of course, finding them would mean going thru different worlds to find information about their location yadda yaa.

Now, would that rock or wha?

EDIT: Ow and as for the topic, I think the Oblivion/Fallout 3 engine would be great for this kind of game.

I rather vote on a new space quest game.. With today's graphics and sound effects I think cheesiness can be put back into the game. My only beef would be that someone would screw it up and do more damage. :nope:

Still Roger Wilco needs his comeback. :03:

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about check below,

If we had one, I wanna be able to pick more guns than just a P-90.

"We're going to fight aliens, I'll take the pistol-caliber SMG."

Screw that!

I wonder if an Abrams would fit through the Stargate...

You see M16s, mp5s, P90s and what else in the show.

As for the Abrams, maybe, but how they get it down to the gateroom? It doesnt fit a normal elevator. :O:

Stargate Worlds is the MMO everyones refering to.

There was a Stargate FPS in development late in the Xbox/PS2's life cycle but it was canned before release. Looked good too. Had P-90s, Staff weapons (You know the ones Jaffar use) Zats etc.

I'd like to see one, but I'm not holding my breath. Would rather watch the shows anyway, more interesting. New series has just started shooting too incase anyones a gate fan. Stargate Universe.

Meh... the original show, SG-1, is great. Atlantis was.. well.. crap and seeing the cast and the plot of SG Universe, it cant be good.

In the early days, you'd see M-16's and M249's occasionally, especially when SG-2 was involved. And there was that combat shotgun's occasional appearance. Mostly, though, they had 9mm MP-5s or 5.7mm P90s. The P90s were a little better I guess, but I see no reason why heavier caliber weapons weren't used more often against resilient alien guys in body armor.

Budget, I know, and I loved SG-1, but...I like more dakka.

As for the Abrams...well, they got the gate down there, didn't they?:DL

Come to think of it...if they're exploring, why not send other vehicles through. Like Humm-vees or LAV-25s.

:har::har: Good point. :yeah:

I have an explanation on why they use the P90. They managed to upgrade them so they are über accurate and deadlier, but they just didnt tell about it in the show. :O: In the early seasons, they couldnt kill the normal jaffa soldiers with the mp5/p90.

Captain Vlad

Hell, I think the P90 in SG canon was designed specifically to fight the Jaffa. Makes a certain amount of sense, due to the body armor and the fact that SG teams tended to have a lot of other crap to carry around so a PDW/SMG might make sense for your normal recon team, and you'd want one that'd punch through the protection of your most common enemy.

But c'mon...who wouldn't wanna hose a Goa'uld with a M240? Or pop 'im in the head with a Barrett?:DL

They are too heavy for a recon team dont you think? :O:

Depends on whether or not the recon team has like...Humm-Vees or something.:DL

Just watched the episode (S6E2) where they explain how they got the gate in. The ceiling above the gate is actually a big farking door, behind it is an shaft that leads all the way to the surface. So, yeh, why the heck they dont use Abrams'?! :stare:

Falkirion

Could an Abrams fit through the gate? I would've thought that an Abrams was too wide for gate, given that all we see going through it are MALPs, SG pesonnel, missiles and energy weapons.

Captain Vlad

According to Wiki, an Abrams is 12 feet wide and 8 feet tall.

I think it'll fit.:DL

No license, so will be a free download. As with all such projects who knows if it will see the light of day. Looks like an FPS.

Too bad SG-1 Alliance got killed off by JoWood, screens for it looked promising.
