Re-Install of SH3

I was re-installing SH3 and trying to patch it to 1.4b. Regarless of what patch I try (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, or 1,4) it tells me that my menu.de is an "unknown version" and wont let my install any pactches. This is a fresh install so not sure why the menu.de is unknown....any thoughts?

Also what are the best mods to run with SH3. Ive been using SH4 for a while but now want to get back into the Atlantic!!!

If you're reinstalling, make sure you manually go in and delete the Program Files/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 3 folder after you run the uninstaller or you will get this message.

Are you sure it is not already patched to 1.4?

Load the game and on the menu screen, in the lower right corner, there will be the version of the game. If it says 1.4, you're set-no need to patch. :up:

As far as mods go, I posted this in another thread as well:

Start with one of the super mods:
GWX
NYGM
War Ace 4.0

The rest is personal taste. Do you like eye candy? Different GUI? Sounds? U-boat skins? Extra ships?

It is a list of mods with links to their threads. It is a bit out of date though. It was stopped being updated when subsim added the downloads page but it is a good list of mods. Peruse them and try some that may look interesting.

As well as SH3Commander and JGSME.
