Had to do it now because of changing apartments... I just pulled the plug on my trusty Debian-box(P2-200mhz) that served me well in varies serving duties since 2005. It ran non-stop, without rebooting, for the last two+ years until ending it's career a few minutes ago. :-? Something with a lower power consumption will probably replace this old dinosaur, but the OS won't definitely change

That's an impressive career. Win7 won't stay up for 2 weeks without acting up. :salute:

Hehe, haven't even dared to try keeping a consumer-level Windows up for two weeks :haha:
The best thing about Linux-distros: Most are free. With some work you've got an excellent OS for a server, or with almost no work at all(at least Ubuntu is easier to install than Win7) you've got a great OS for your desktop. Hell, you can even install some distros straight from Windows with Wubi (http://wubi-installer.org/) and similar programs. I'm only keeping Win7 for gaming, but for all other uses it's great. For example all the good free non-linear video-editing programs are only for Linux(Cinlerra, Cinelerra-CV, Kdenlive, etc).

I'm a gamer first, geek second, so I'm stuck with Win. Tried a number of different distros, but in the end getting games to run was a pita, so back I went.
Still use a Fedora live-cd now and again though, to analyse systems that don't boot OS anymore. Pretty handy to boot an OS from the CD. :yep:
