There are way too many things that sting, bite, ooze, crawl, poke, etc. in the ocean. I prefer not to even think about them when I swim in the ocean.
One thing I will never do is swim in the ocean at night. I seem to have a big fear of that. There are way to many predators that seem come out at night that sting, bite, ooze, crawl, poke, etc. and probably would eat me as well.

my sister is deathly terrified of swimming in the ocean... and even in knee deep water she thinks that a Great White Shark is going to lunge out of the depths and swallow her whole!
we went to Destin, Florida last year and she finally came out into the water with my dad and I.
we were just sort of bobbing up and down in the water up to the middle of our chests conversing.
she was looking around constantly for "shark fins" and continuously asked questions about "how big would a fish have to be to eat you?" and "how close to the beach do you think sharks come?" and similar questions.
by total accident, when a rather large wave came in i kicked my legs out further than normal to stay afloat.
my right foot and lower leg brushed her thigh just barely for a second.
she screamed and went swimming and running to shore as fast as she could.
my dad and i were :har::har: as i explained what it actually was, she didnt go back into the water the rest of the day.

Many years back I kept Piranha and snakeheads in separate aquriums....the piranha (10 at the outset and approx 2" long) picked each other off on an almost monthly basis once they reached about 8".
The snakeheads fed from whatever was put in the aquarium with them....usually dead goldfish.

Not for long....soon one tank was down to one inhabitant and the other was always fouled up with the debris of half eaten fish.

For feeding fish that had already died in a petshop and would be put in a garbage bin for disposal or for whitebait that were on commercial sale for human consumption? :hmmm:

"Note: Sharks were omitted as we thought it unfair on the littler guys; the dorsal-finned ones deserve their own top ten. "
nooo the correct answer is that Sharks were omitted because this was an article about FISH.
10 Most diabolical fish on earth.
I also would question that appellation of diabolical to describe a natural creature.
These are beautiful creatures that have adapted to their environment... in some cases an environment most hostile.

Did you get blue ringed octopus and box jelly fish in there?
I also had frequent encounters with brown trout off Bondi with a south easterly blowing ;)

Pretty sure a shark is still a fish.
