Im curently on my seccond patroll in a type VIIB, and after ive loaded up my save game my boat is seriously underperforming! Ive got no dammage to my boat Engines and batteries are fully operational. I can only get 11 kts out of her at Flank speed and my cruseing speed at ahead 1/3 is only 5 knts! Ive got to patroll the DT grid so its a long patroll is going to take for ever to get there.
Im playing with GWX 3 gold and useing SHIII commander ive got the Malfunction sabbotarge box ticked could this be something to do with it?
Although ive only had this prob after loading up my save game it was running fine befor that.
BTW the seas are calm so thats not the prob either.

No mate Batteries fully charged even when there chargeing you only lose about 2 knts! I can usaly do 10knts at ahead 1/3 at the moment its 5!:wah:.
It seems that I seem to be doing submerged speeds for some reason while surfaced useing deisle engines
Thanks for your input any way!

Could be a malfunction. Run the game again thru SH3 commander and see if the malfunction is fixed :06:

Update Ive reloaded it and now curent speed is 9knts at ahead 1/3 :woot:
So must have been a bug while loading it up :stare:.
Sorry about that every one!
Yeah I have got the malfunction box ticket. Im asumeing you would have some kind of damage report if that happend?
Any way im off to do some patrolling :salute:.

You don't get any damage reports if the SH3 sabotage has kicked in. You just have to figure it out on your own. The things I've come across:
Seriously impaired battery life
Blurry periscope optics
Engines not able to get my boat up to max speed
Yep, I'll bet it was the 'malfunction' gremlin.

Problem is if you have malfunction/sabotage option activated you do not get any warnings. There obviously was a malfunction on your diesels. When you reload you may not have the same malfunction. I experienced once that my engine power dropped to zero when flank was selected. Other speed selections worked OK. I am not 100% about this but I mean to remember that after a prolonged submerged resting period the flank speed option again was working. No warning, though.
The intent of the game obviously being to have you make a choice whether to continue the patrol with the flaw or return to base for repairs.
If your malfuntion/sabotage option wasn't selected then there must have been a bug....

As stated above...it could have been worse...0 knots when full ahead is selected

Yes well it would be nice if it was malfuntion/sabotage but after reloading the save file it seemed to be at normal speed agian.
After 30 mins into the game I got a CTD  which sujests to me ive got a corupted save file! Think im going to have to restart my career all over agian :wah:

It's a bloody curse,
I read this thread then a few hours later started a patrol. I was getting 18 knots out of my diesels, and couldn't get the electrics going. I have malfunctions ticked in SH3 commander so hopefully it's just that.
Still bagged a 2000 Tonne Passenger /Cargo with 1 torp though :arrgh!:
**EDIT**
Thankfully (?) just a malfunction. Looks like the batteries ended their lifespan early or something. Spent 10 days back in port while we were fitted out with the older 740 series batteries. Will have to go back to the new model when they can order some more in :D
