Newbie-type question

Mainly out of curiosity, I bought a copy of Destroyer Command from Amazon on CD. It's already patched to version 1.1. I've installed it and it's running fine. I have one problem - Is there an "external view" of the ships, including the one you're commanding? If so, how do you get to it, please? "External View" is mentioned in the Commands, but I'm blowed if I can find the key-combination to access it.

Period (.) and comma (,) keys. There is no 'Free' view as with SH3 and 4.

You have to turn on the function in the options screen. I think it's worded funny and gets passed over frequently, but it's about 3/4 the way down the list. Then when you're in the observation deck view, move the mouse to the upper area of the screen and the external view prompt will appear. To exit move the mouse to the lower area and another prompt will appear.
